FIFA 19 Global Series: Xbox Playoffs Champion Crowned in Upset, 16 Players Qualify for eWorld Cup

On Sunday, esports fans watched a thrilling FIFA 19 Global series event take place with the Xbox Playoffs Final. One of the best all-around FIFA players of the past season, F2Tekkz, would reach yet another tournament finals. However, this time around he might have met his match as he battled challenger Rebel Stokes. The two players would ultimately decide who would be crowned champion of the event. In addition, 16 players officially qualified for the FIFA 19 eWorld Cup next month.

Rebel Stokes vs. F2Tekkz in FIFA 19 Global Series Xbox Playoffs

The latest FIFA 19 Global series event took place in Hamburg over two days, with it officially getting started on Friday, July 5. There were a number of players considered ones to watch heading into the event. However, all eyes were especially on Donovan “F2Tekkz” Hunt.

The No. 1-ranked competitor was looking to add an eighth title to his total over the past season. His resume included wins at the PGL FIFA 19 Cup this past December, FIFA eWorld Club Cup in February, and the PGL FIFA 19 Masters. He would go up against a tough competitor in Rebel Stokes.

The Xbox Playoffs semifinals would see Rebel Stokes advance by defeating Vini Leiva. On the other side of the bracket, it was F2Tekkz as many expected. He eliminated Niklas “NRaseck” from the running to get to the finals.

In the end, Rebel Stokes provided to be too much for top FIFA player Tekkz. He would tweet over his excitement at capturing the huge victory in Hamburg.

The FIFA Xbox Playoffs win netted Rebel Stokes a whopping $75,000 in cash with the runner-up getting $35,000. With the victory, Rebel Stokes also picked up 1,800 Global Series Points, boosting his overall ranking. F2Tekkz received 1,080 Global Series Points, which helped him maintain his No. 1 ranking on the leaderboard.

A daily Playoffs highlight video showed off the top five plays with the top two plays both going to Rebel Stoke in his huge Xbox Playoffs finals win.

16 Players qualify for FIFA eWorld Cup

While there was only one champion, there were also a number of other players who earned their way into important FIFA 19 Global Series spots. A total of 16 players at the Xbox Playoffs punched their tickets to the FIFA eWorld Cup. Based on points they’ve tallied through FIFA Global Series events, the players ranked No. 1 through No. 16 have all qualified.

A Twitter post (below) gives all 16 players’ names who will now officially participate in the big event.

The list of 16 competitors includes some of the top players in FIFA over the past season such as the Xbox Playoffs champ, runner-up F2Tekkz, MSDossary, and MegaBit98. Another tweet shows off each of the players along with the teams they represent.

Of note, Rogue has three representatives heading to the big event. There’s still the Berlin event set for July 12 through 14 where 16 more players will qualify. The FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs are set for July 19. However, the grand finale of the season will be the FIFA eWorld Cup on Monday, August 19. See the latest Global Series rankings here.
