FIFA 19 Team Of The Year Nominees Revealed With Voting Now Underway

While there is a new FIFA 19 Team of the Week each and every week, as well as players of the month, fans are now able to help choose the year’s squad of best players. On Wednesday (Jan. 2), EA’s FIFA account revealed that the FIFA 19 Team of the Year nominees are now available. They included the biggest stars from the football world and gamers can help decide who makes the final roster.

FIFA 19 Team of the Year nominees include

A total of 55 players have been nominated as Team of the Year (TOTY) representatives. However, only a fifth of those players are going to make the final roster. EA Sports FIFA Twitter account sent out a promotional video on Wednesday to highlight the voting that is now underway. It’s a highly exclusive process to determine which 11 players deserve to be a part of the Team of the Year for 2018.

There are attackers, midfielders, defenders, and goalkeepers to choose from in the voting. EA Sports chose these 55 players based on how they performed in 2018.

Some of the star players include attackers Eden Hazard, Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., and Cristiano Ronaldo. Of those players, Hazard just made it onto the latest Team of the Week 16. Several of his fellow nominees have been on the team, while Messi and Ronaldo are the two highest-rated players in the game.

For midfielders, fans are looking at a total of 15 players to choose from. Among them are Luka Modric, David Silva, Paul Pogba, Kevin de Bruyne, and Paulo Dybala. For defenders, highlights include Giorgio Chiellini, Sergio Ramos, Thiago Silva, and Marcelo.

Of course, having a group of men roaming the pitch for offense and defense is great, but the team needs a goalkeeper. There are five to vote for: David de Rea, Alisson, Jan Oblak, Hugo Lloris, or Thibaut Courtois. See all of the nominees here at EA’s FIFA website.

FIFA 19 Team of the Year details

The final 11-player FIFA 19 TOTY roster includes one goalkeeper, three attackers, three midfielders, and four defenders. Ballot boxes were sent to members of media, athletes, and the EA Sports FIFA community.

Voters cast their ballots via a social media post showing off the final team of 11 along with the hashtag #TOTYVote. The ballot box group makes up 60 percent of all votes, while the remaining 40 percent of votes will come via EA Sports. From there, a final Team of the Year is determined.

The FourFourTwo Twitter already sent out a photo to show off their ballot box and who they chose, as seen in the tweets below.

That’s a pretty solid lineup above but has already drawn gamer debates in the tweet replies. The FIFA 19 Team of the Year voting will end just days from now. That’s because EA will reveal the official TOTY on January 7, 2019. It should be quite interesting to see which 11 players make the final cut!
