FIFA 20 Global Series Results: Tekkz Captures Another FUT Champions Cup Title in Bucharest

The first event of the FIFA 20 Global Series is in the books. A number of professional gamers brought their best stuff to Bucharest over the past several days. However, just one competitor was holding up the trophy when all was said and done. Once again, Tekkz has captured the FUT 20 Champions Cup title. Here’s the latest on yet another major win for one of the best professional FIFA players on the globe.

Tekkz defeats Fifilza in FIFA 20 FUT Champions Cup Grand Finals

It all began on November 8 in Bucharest with 64 competitors involved and a prize pool of $200,000 USD available. The first official FIFA 20 Global Series event of the new season brought competitors from all over the world, with America, Canada, Brazil, Germany, France, UK, and Italy represented. Indonesia, Israel, Netherlands, and Mexico had representation. Only two competitors remained after three days of competitive gaming though.

Fnatic team member Tekkz battled through fierce competition on his side of things and emerged as the FIFA 20 champion for the Xbox One bracket. Meanwhile, FC Wolves’ Fifilza claimed the crown as the top player for the PS4 version of the game. That would set up a FUT Champions Cup grand finals between the two superstar gamers.

In the Grand Final, Tekkz was dominant once again. He’d take Game 1, 2-0 and followed up with a 1-0 win to capture the FUT Champions Cup Stage 1 trophy. Here he is celebrating the moment and holding up one of his prizes for the latest victory.

The FIFA 20 Global Series opening win gives Tekkz three seasons in a row in which he won the first major event in the series. He captured this year’s event, the FIFA 19 event in Bucharest, and the FIFA 18 event in Barcelona. Those are just three wins during his career on FIFA, this far. It certainly shows his continued dominance of the popular game year after year.

Tekkz has dominant performance in first FUT tournament

The FIFA 20 Ultimate Team tournament consists of five rounds of gameplay and then brackets are set up for Xbox One and PS4 gamers. Tekkz picked up a 4-1 opening-round win over Canada’s GoalMachine, followed by a 5-2 victory in Round 2 over SK Sturm Graz’s Phil. In Round 3, Tekkz continued his march towards the final with a 4-2 win against MegaBit. He’d go on to take the Round 4 matchup against Mino7x by a dominant score of 6-0 and then defeated NR7, 2-1 in Round 5.

He’d advance to the Xbox brackets and continued his mastery of the opposition. That included beating Focus Clan’s Sakul 3-1 in the Round of 16 and Phil once again in the quarterfinals. In the Semifinals, Tekkz took down Brazil’s SpiderKong 4-0 and then defeated fellow UK rep Lyricz in a 2-1 Xbox Final. One of Tekkz’ goals from that finals matchup was named Precision Play of the Day as shown in the highlight video below.

First place for the Xbox One and PS4 consoles gain 2,000 points in the overall standings. In addition, Tekkz captured the biggest share of the prize pool with $50,000 after the three-day event.
