The latest Fortnite Battle Royale update has added many new things to the game. Epic Games is slowly preparing players for the Halloween event with new skins and other new content, but there have also been some gameplay changes that came with the v18.20 patch.
Two new weapons have been added to the game: the Combat Assault Rifle and the Combat Submachine Gun. These weapons, however, are not obtainable by players yet as they have to be unlocked through the funding system. The assault rifle and the submachine gun are among the best weapons in the game and it will be interesting to see which one players decide to pick.
New Fortnite weapons have to be unlocked first
Epic Games has introduced the funding system to Fortnite with the release of Season 8. With this system, players spend their gold bars to fund specific items that will be added to the game. At first, players were able to fund mounted turrets at several spots on the island. After that, they chose to unvault the Shockwave Launcher over the Rift-to-Go through the funding system. Now, there is a choice between the Combat AR and the Combat SMG.
The first weapon that reaches 100 percent funding will be added to the game. According to Epic Games, both weapons are very powerful. However, they will have to be mastered by players in order to be effective in combat. While these weapons have high damage output and tight bullet spread, they also come with increased recoil.
The Fortnite developer wrote the following regarding these two new weapons: “Sporting a tight bullet spread and exceptional power, the Combat variants of the Assault Rifle and SMG are quite a force in an expert’s hands. Just watch out for the kickback! Both the Combat Assault Rifle and Combat SMG have a strong recoil that you must tame to get the most out of them.”
How to bring a new weapon to the game
If you want to bring the Combat AR or the Combat SMG, you will have to find one of the funding boards over the island and interact with it. Funding one of the weapons means spending gold bars on it, so make sure you have many of them if you want to influence the funding. Also, make sure you donate on a regular basis!
