Fortnite Jetpacks Are Finally In The Game, Get Ready For Liftoff

Months after they were originally announced for Fortnite, jetpacks have finally been added, allowing players a better and faster way to get up on top of roofs than building structures and fiddling with the buttons that that requires. They’re included in the version 4.2 update of the game.

Jetpacks were first announced for the Fortnite in February, but Epic Games held off on releasing them into the game after they realized that there was a design flaw in them. Instead, players got a new hunting rifle. Not as cool as a Jetpack but a gun is a gun.

Now, however, the Fortnite jetpacks are ready to go, and players can find them as legendary items that are part of the new item category of “Backpack”, which was also added in this new content update. However, even with a jetpack, you still have a number of limitations. Players can’t enter targeting mode while they’re airborne, and if you try and trigger the mode on a controller, you’ll start the Jetpack.

The Fortnite jetpack isn’t an infinite-use item, either. Once you’ve used it all up, the jetpack will explode, and you won’t be able to use it again, meaning that you’ll have to use it wisely and carefully. That could be difficult, considering all the different ways you could use them; you could jump up to the top of a tower someone builds to get at them faster, get up on rooftops or sheer cliff faces, and more.

In addition to not being an infinite-use item, the jetpacks will still be taking up a slot in your inventory, meaning that you can only use one at a time. If you’re lucky enough to get multiple ones, you’ll have to make sure to keep an eye on your equipped jetpack during combat, otherwise you might run out and be at a disadvantage until you can put another one on.

You can play Fortnite now and try and find some of the Fortnite jetpacks in legendary chests, along with all of the other new gear that will be coming in the new update.
