Fortnite’s FTC Settlement Will Be Processed Soon

Epic Games will start refunding V-Bucks to Fortnite players very soon. This came after the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) fined the video game developer for its Item Shop and billing practices.

While Epic Games and the FTC settled this last year, the order wasn’t finalized until last week. Due to this, the Fortnite creator will soon begin refunding players. In total, $245 million will be split among all eligible players.

Considering that the video game has more than 400 million accounts in total, this comes down to less than $1 per player. This is why many prominent Fortnite content creators believe that Epic will grant V-Bucks to players instead.

Epic Games will likely refund V-Bucks to Fortnite players

Almost everyone who has made an Item Shop purchase is eligible for a refund. The video game was released in September 2017 and millions of players who purchased cosmetic items until September 2022 are eligible for this.

Epic Games was ordered to refund $245 million in total. However, Fortnite players will be better off receiving the premium in-game currency. This is because eligible players would receive less than $1 on average. On the other hand, players will likely receive at least 1,000 V-Bucks each.

As many Fortnite players are aware, the cheapest package of the premium currency costs $7.99. While getting 1,000 V-Bucks isn’t a lot, it’s certainly much better than getting only $1 or less than that.

The Federal Trade Commission has posted detailed information regarding the refund process. If you are interested in reading more, please visit the official website of the organization.
