  1. You mean the poster of Attack on titan? Well, that is not an open world game. That's may be the reason why someone could easily complete the game. But if given me the game, I would have taken almost a week for that. I don't play games just for the sake of completing it. 😆

  2. Second person is something pretty much impossible to contemplate in a video game because the 2nd person is the perspective of your subject. In Call of Duty, this would be controlling the game from the view of whoever it was you were trying to shoot, or in something like Assassin's Creed, you'd be trying to control your character from the perspective of the guards. The camera angels you described in a racing game are still third person, just from a different angle. There are video games, especially racers, that have cinematic camera that take the view of how a motorrace looks on TV, for example. That is a second-person perspective, but nobody making a genuine effort to control the game accurately would actually use them. They're just for show.

  3. I've seen game modding discussed on these forums mostly in an "in a reference" and specific kind of way. But, for us as a community, to discuss game modding in the aim to create a pool of advice in the effort to make game modding easier and more accessible, I feel is a noble task. I know game modding can be somewhat daunting to people who haven't tried it, and lets be honest, it can be a pain in the ass for those that have. As aforementioned, modding has been discussed before on VGR. I'm in an ongoing effort to merge older topics discussing game modding into one thread, that thread being the previous version of the Gaming Mod Thread, that will now serve a a refence for people to check on what has been discussed before. Any new information and discussion you wish to bring to VGR on the subject on Modding games, please post it on this thread. The purpose of this thread to discuss game modding in a more general way, rather than have it come up on occasion in a thread for a specific game. So regardless of game or platform, tell all of us what game(s) you modify, how to modify them and the benefits they bring. Tell us what software and websites you use to point people in the right direction and offer advice and instructions on how to do so. Likewise if you have a game you want to mod, ask here and the VGR community will help you as best we can. This is not a PC only thread, limited modding is available on console as well, so posts on that are just as welcome. A couple of ground rules: Don't post content that's designed to give an advantage in an online multiplayer. Single player cheats and enhancements are fine, but anything that could offer an unfair advantage or paid advantage for free is prohibited (don't get me wrong, I hate pay-to-win as much as anyone, but we can't host methods to circumvent them here.). Make clear the risks of download (if any) from the host website. Mods can cause crashes and slowdowns, so make sure you link the page that makes these risks clear and how to install the said mod correctly. Don't post links to content that would violate the regular rules on the VGR forms including, but not limited to Pornographic content, nudity and otherwise indecent content. If you find or download such content on the sites mentioned in any post on this thread keep it to yourself, but don't talk about it here. Hate fuelled content towards any race, religious belief, sexual orientation, political bias, background or social minority. Anything else considered worth review. In other words, if you think you might get in trouble for posting certain content in the gaming forums here, I'd suggest you not post post info on a similar mod here either. If in doubt, please ask either me @Shaggeror @DC. Ill start out immediacy with two words, Nexus Mods. This is THEE website to download mods. It has it's own brand of mod management service called Vortex (Free and Safe to Download), premium services and optional donations to support modder's and literally hundreds of thousands of mods over dozens of games. This is the first stop. I'll also suggest, especially if you want to mod Bethesda games, to look up Game Script Extenders. The benefits of those I'll let you explore for yourself using the link, but so many mods on PC depend on these apps being installed. In a nutshell, they are alternate game launch applications that allow access to Console Commands (Google Search) designed to support testers and developers, but we can use them as well, he he. Each game will have it's own script extender, so be sure to download the right one.

  4. Are there toxic messages you feel are still embedded in a lot of video games these days? What behaviours/beliefs do these messages perpetuate?

  5. The title says it all. What about games in second person? Granted there aren't a lot, but if you've played certain racing games you know what it is. First person has you in the drivers seat looking through the drivers eyes. Third person has you out behind the car watching it. But second has you in a spot like you're riding on top of the car. Like I said, there aren't a lot of games that offer a second person perspective, but for the games that do, what is the thought of them? I think it's an interesting option, but can't say I've played enough games with the option to really have an opinion.

  6. Yeah, each category that is unlocked you have to purchase the top one first in the row before you can purchase the one under it. I never did unlock all of the abilities in each row so don't start unlocking or purchasing everything in an entire row. Get what you feel you need and save some supplements for other tiers you unlock by finding the survival guides.

  7. For me, it would be that too many games make you have to hunt animals for food and supplies as if they are just there to serve mankind's needs. It belittles them. I think that sort of thing should be more reserved for survival games and not exploit it in every game. Then to have a quest to slay a beast in its own territory as if it did anything wrong outside of existing. And no, I don't want to force any developer to not hunt animals in their games. Just had to make that point for the real snowflakes out there. Nobody is trying to take away hunting rights in games. lol

  8. In contrary, I have some handful of games in soft copies that I stored in my PC. Most of them I already completed like Far cry 3, Uncharted 3 etc. But I don't have any game which I had purchased but never installed.

  9. Exactly. As @Crazycrabmentioned, open world games requires lots of time to complete. You need to time to explore the surroundings and environments. Where as, games having linear missions after missions, takes less time to complete. Still, I think 12 hours is insanely short period for completing any game. 😆

  10. I wouldn't call them conclusions so much as just a summary of my subjective perceptions and experiences. I'll have to look up the games you mentioned to check out their POVs!

  11. Yeah. You are correct. Most importantly it will become a part of their bread and butter. By making such controversy, they know they can easily attract the viewers attention. It is better to avoid these things and only focus on serious issues, which is really concerning.

  12. For open world games 12 hours would be pathetic of course and for online games it's pretty much infinite/as long as you can be bothered. For a single player, linear, mission by mission based designed game 10 - 12 hours is fairly substantial. Most games like that are around 6 to 8 hours for a single playthrough. The Last of Us is about 12 hours and I certainly wouldn't describe that game as short or easy!

  14. There are so many I could name but for starters, I wish we could summon dragons, daedroths, Daedric Titans from ESO and a few others as these are some pretty heavy hitters in the ES universe.

  15. Welcoming to VGR. It's a difficult question to answer with certainty when you don't reference a specific game, but what I can suggest is logging into the Nintendo eShop on your Switch console and see what's available. I did find this slightly old (2018) article form Elecspo that might help.

  16. @Shagger has hit the nail on the head, as to why this wouldn't work out in a game title. Some videos on YouTube have explored this concept to give other gamers the chance to experience the sight of second person gaming. Personally? I would always stick with 1st, and it makes aiming at your opponent far easier.

  17. That's just a form of third person view. with a fixed camera position.

  18. Third person: I'm floating over someone else's shoulder awkwardly as the world spins around me, a million miles from the action. And everything around me is so small and hard to see. First person: I'm the person in the game, seeing through my own eyes, immersed in the action, and things look like they do in real life.

  19. @ShaggerThat mod adds more realism than people will realize. If you've never either been a hunter or in the military, then typically you won't realize how a real firearm is handled. You don't walk around with it pointed straight out in front of you EVER. That WILL get someone killed. If you trip you will instinctively tighten your grip on whatever weapon you have in your hands, and even if it's on safe, nothing is fool proof. And if you're stupid enough to not have the weapon on safe until you get to your destination, then you have no business looking at it, let alone handling it. I sold a couple of my rifles a few years back, and predominantly only have handguns now. Aside from my revolver, none are fire ready. I keep the clips full, but never chamber a round unless I'm about to pull the trigger. More often than not, hunters do hold their rifle to the side like that. Others prefer to hold it resting on their shoulder. You have better control holding it to the side with both hands in my opinion, but you need to go with what's more natural and comfortable for you because you will have better control over where your weapon is aimed. But to get back to the game, that's a great mod @Crazycrab That's a bit of an unfair statement. The reverse of that has to fall under that as well. Why would any sane person avoid first person games because of the perspective? Some like the one, but not the other. I see it a lot like VR games where a headset is required. That's first person, but many of us have no interest in it. When it's all based on opinion, you can't call one preference insane without the other one eventually being called insane as well. Like I said, I'm not the biggest fan of first person perspective. But I have played a couple semi-enjoyable games. However I have no intention of getting any on purpose, such as Fallout or Doom.

  20. I don't buy games based on what perspective they are in, I actually can’t imagine why anybody sane would. Some would probably argue that shooters are better from 1st person and action games that use more melle are better from 3rd but that depends on how the game is designed WITH the perspective, not the perspective itself.

    Stuck in a game

I apologise for being so brazen, I was unaware. It's wonderful to someone at you age enjoying games, respect. Please understand it was getting frustrating offing advice and not having heeded, but that's no excuses for me to be rude, so once again I'm sorry. If need help to navigate the website I'm happy to help.

    Twice in one year

We had to put Bean Dip down last night. He was completely unable to use his hind legs from what we were told. So we cut our St. Louis vacation short and came home early. I haven’t spoken or been able to form a single thought in my head. But this one is worse than when we lost Gypsy. With Bean, it was a conscious decision made to intentionally kill him. I don’t know when or even if at this point I will be back. Losing Gypsy was extremely devastating. The role that we played in losing Bean Dip, was more than my mind has been able to handle. By the time my girl came out from the vet office, I had my .357 in my chin, and was starting to squeeze the trigger. She got to me first and wrestled the gun away from me. I wish she hadn't. I wanted to go with Bean. I still do. I just can't think at the moment. We had him since he was a puppy. He was around 11 years old. I remember crying uncontrollably the whole way home from St. Louis, but nothing else. So this is definitely a temporary goodbye, and potentially a permanent goodbye. I don't know at the moment. Obviously the YouTube channel is on hiatus for now, assuming it ever starts up again.
