This was made by only 3 people? This looks amazing! Hit us up here when it gets released on Steam, we'd love to give it a try!

Greetings fellow gamers, I'm a programmer in a small team of 3, and we have spent last 3 and a half years working on our dream game: Nanobotic.

Nanobotic is a FPS MOBA where two teams of 5 fight to destroy enemy base. Fun thing is that you can craft weapon elements on the fly, and switch between them anywhere, any time.
You can also craft robotic minions that you control, to help you fight enemies.
Nanobotic will be free to play on Steam by the end of this month.

I have never requested a refund on any of my video game collection.  I read the reviews, watch gameplay and finally make sure I know I will enjoy playing it before I purchase it(demo version). I buy all my gaming equipment from either: GAME or Steam and I've never had an issue with either company's.

It is that time of the year again, and here at VGR we want to ask YOU guys one question! What are your favourite games of 2018? The 10 games with the most votes will get featured in our "Top 10 Games of 2018" feature, so this is your chance to pick what games you want to see on that list! This poll will run until December 21st, so bare in mind if you haven't played some of the games yet, you can vote for them later.

I did a lot of that in the MUD I played too. I still remember some of the spots I loved very clearly.

I remember back in my Guild Wars 2 days, I used to act like an NPC citizen just to get a different feel of it. I would find houses along the way and try to figure out which one I want for more to live in, and just sit there whenever I was AFK. I would also find perfect spots for sunset gazing and look for the spots with the best view. Everyone else was grinding in PvP but those things were never for me 😄

Tough question. My contenders would be Radiohead, The Libertines, The Beatles, Super Furry Animals, Belle & Sebastian and Neon Neon.

@Katri Marcell and I were talking in this thread about situations where we have “bent the rules” in terms of intended game play in various games. She talked about playing a support role in PUBG instead of killing other players, and I talked about an MMO where I refused to kill NPCs to level up. In both cases, we found our choices rewarding, even though other players questioned our basic sanity =D
I also remember these golf simulator games when I was a kid which didn’t really interest me in terms of golf. I just played the golf in order to run around the course maps and explore. I would often try to send the ball as far to the edge of the map as possible, always wishing there was more to see. I'd get depressed when it'd fall off the edge into nothingness. Now we have open world games to fill the void I was trying to fill in childhood with the golf games.
Anyone else have similar stories to share?

MGS is a godmade franchise. When I first got into it I wasn't prepared of the depth it carried. I used to say that I don't care about playing it since it will be "Counter Strike" material. Poor foolish me 😄

Agree with Alyxx and Katri above. Well directed cut-scenes and a focus on a strong narrative give games a cinematic quality. I often think third person perspective games are a little more filmic than first person, but both can be cinematic. Uncharted, The Last Of Us, the recent Tomb Raider titles and David Cage games are good examples of cinematic video game experiences.

I've been looking very carefully at the statues and paintings on your advice. Not only is the artwork amazing, but you are right--there are a lot of details i'd have missed otherwise in terms of plot. Thank you!

You couldn't be any more true. It's good to feel powerful and extremely inteligent in video games and it sure gives you satisfaction when you manage to give justice to things. That's mainly the reason why I could never kill people without a reason in games. Even in multiplayer ones I prefer just doing the objective and avoid conflict 😄

    Yes and no.
No, in that it’s making plenty of money, there’s plenty of developers, and plenty of new games coming out.
Yes, however, there’s a super-saturation of developers jumping on the bandwagon. While there’s more money in total, it’s being stretched pretty thin so that even devs with great games are basically being pushed out of the market just due to the sheer volume being produced.
This is probably not a long term “death” by any means, though. We’ll probably see a die-off of a bunch of smaller companies and single-dev indie startups when it becomes impossible to ignore the fact that most of them won’t make any profits and it’s not the cash cow they seem to think it’ll be.
When that happens, you’ll see a correction on its own where the more competent developers are able to take advantage of the situation.
Things like candy crush and other such games, however, are not going to go away unless they’re made illegal. They’re specifically designed to make abusive use of the very tiny portion of the population with severe gambling addictions and so on. Less than 1% of their player base makes up for over 90% of their profits, and when you consider that some of them are making millions per month, that should become suddenly very worrying when you realize what that means the average person in that 1% range is paying out.
Basically, regulation of harmful games which are designed explicitly to milk a very small amount of addictive personality customers for unhealthy amounts, will wind up killing that portion of the market off, which would mean fewer devs expecting to be the next big thing, and the market itself would decrease drastically in scale of production… but it would be higher quality games on average.
As it is, it will have a “small” death in that the more people that enter the market, the less sustainable it will be for most of them and you’ll see a crash similar to what happened back in the dot-com crash in the 90’s. It won’t kill off everything by any means, but it’ll change the way the games are made substantially.
