Personally, I'm a long way from convinced this would work.  A player approaches an open world with ambition and a keenness to explore, not with the kind of apprehension and dread that one would associate with horror. Horror is told very much through the environment and that environment is meant to make you feel trapped and desperate.  An open world is all about empowerment and opportunity. It's meant to make the player feel important and powerful, not what one want's to feel in horror game.
 
To me, this more likely to work if Capcom focused less on the horror in this open world Resident Evil game and for the game to be like the more action orientated games in the series, like 4.  The obvious problem with that is that at least a significant portion of the fanbase would be put off by that after seen some great horror games and remasters from the series in recent years.  A Resident Evil open world has another more indigenous problem.  Unlike other companies like Ubisoft or Bethesda, Capcom isn't exactly known for it's open worlds.  When they have given it a go, it's been to mixed success. Sorry, but I do see Capcom making a mess of it, especially if they do try to squeeze the square block that is survival-horror into the round hole of an open world.
 
 

Hmmm, do you think an open world RE would become Days Gone? I imagine an open world RE would be similar to the Evil Within series. Well, half open world I think. To test the waters. I highly doubt they will go full on open world. 

An open-world RE game could absolutely work. We have Dead By Daylight as a primary example. Days Gone is another example of a zombie-filled open-world game that was pretty successful.

One of the reasons I like the RE series is that the games aren't open world and can be beaten in 12 hours or less. I'll definitely pass on this one.

There are rumors about the next Resident Evil game, and it looks like it could turn out to be an open-world game. I don't know if I would be for an open world RE game, but I think it could work. A lot of the games have had decent sized levels, but I don't think any of them have gone full on open world just yet. Could an RE game work as an open world game? Supposedly the recent Dragon's Dogma 2 used the RE engine to handle the open world. They also say that the RE engine is being used for the Monster Hunter Wild game. 
I think it could work, what about you? 

That's fantastic news! As a fan of Silent Hill, I'll have to go try this game out for myself. Also, congratulations to Konami for finally doing something smart for once.

Honestly, I haven't checked it out and didn't even know a new exorcist came out or maybe I did hear about it and just didn't care.
I totally agree - they keep releasing sequels of old series because a lot of the more modern movie series are absolute garbage with unoriginal plots and horrible acting.

It reached number-one over the weekend. People sucked you know what in hell for it, no doubt. Which is why so many movies are overrated, and I knew it would claim the top spot, because these people like the popularity of the originals too much not to, and I think box office placings are mostly predetermined so they are bound to be successful if they aren't competing or duking it out with anything else that's popular (in the same week). But this recycling of old franchises ain't helping to bring in new ideas. 🤔

I don't play much during the summer. But now that it is starting to get cold and dark early I am getting that itch to return to video games.
In May, I was down with a broken ankle and started up Final Fantasy 16. I think I'm about to restart it and see it though to completion.

I thought it was nice of Konami to just drop a new game for free. It shows they are trying to make up for their past misdeeds, and all people can do is forgive or forget about the ill-fated Hideo Kojima era. Unfortunately, yeah. So many gamers are still throwing dirt at them, some 10 years later after Konami chose to cancel Silent Hills.
I really thought as a game with no cost, it was well worth the long wait to have this spin off Silent Hill: The Short Message setting up exciting future titles. You definitely feel the spirit of P.T. in the game as you are caught by the monster and sent kicking back to the last checkpoint. Sure, it technically isn't really about the town of Silent Hill any more in a sense, because the story is set in Germany, I believe. But all the same, other games have taken place elsewhere in the timeline in the past as well.
Silent Hill is back... with a vengeance!

For those who didn't get to follow up on the PlayStation State of Play. Have fun! It was an interesting one. 15 games were shown but unfortunately there was nothing about upcoming Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but from update, it's going to be having it's own reveal show on February 6th, 2024. 
 
 

So State of Play is tonight, I believe. Rumours indicate that Until Dawn is returning, but the Silent Hill series ought to be shown too.
Konami really hasn't been putting out a great deal of anything of note on the games, despite the remake of 2 and other projects being announced in the fall a few years back. But they decided to slag off that 'Ascension' garbage recently with an amusing, "It's trauma" merchandise line. So even Konami knows it totally sucks balls. And that's certainly saying something.
Maybe be careful as to who gets to use your IP the next time, huh? 

I actually have a YouTube channel at the moment but it's not something I would call a gaming YouTube channel because it doesn't have any video games on it. I have thought about turning it into a gaming channel but I'm yet to make the decision yet. 

Yeah, TBH I think they should just stop - especially since the most recent films haven't been too well-received. There are only so many times you can make the same film over and over!

I was never a fan of going to the dentist. When I was younger, I had a dentist that was really good and he used to do all he could to make my visits better and make me less worried and scared. 
Unfortunately, the dentist I had left and I ended up with another who was not as understanding as the last and that brought my fear back.

It will come to PlayStation 5 with a new "roguelike survival game mode", and PS4 owners of this sequel can upgrade for $10.
In addition to better graphics and frame rates, there’s also a new guitar free play mode with unlockable instruments, the ability to experience some incomplete levels that were cut from the original game, developer commentary for those cut levels and the main campaign’s cutscenes, and a speed run mode.
 
For $10, I will upgrade and play it again.

Would you believe I have never played the Resident Evil games. I bought 7 or 8 from the PlayStation store at the request of my son, and tried it for only a few minutes.
I'm not fond of 1st person POV where you are looking out of the eyes of your character. I like to see my character on screen.

Grease is an amazing musical. I have watched both Grease and Grease 2 and often get grief when I say that I much preferred Grease 2 between both movies 🙂

Iced coffee is good 🙂 I never used to be a lover of coffee as I could never get past the bitter taste no matter how differently I made it, that was until I found coffee syrup and now I am able to drink coffee and iced coffee without the bitterness 🙂
I was not aware of this! When I think about it though, it does seem like it would be better to eat smaller meals and increase how many than it would be to have bigger portions three times a day. That is quite interesting and something to think about 🙂
I last at a home made pasta dish I like to make for my family which is bacon pasta. It is pasta mixed with passatta that is seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder and oregano with smoked bacon pieces added in which gives it an awesome flavour. 

An hour ago, I had an egg and cress sandwich from the Co-op. Now it's time for more iced coffee. 😉

Well, I recall they had a showcase a little over a year ago, where they announced three games to be outsourced, had a series of vague trailers, and talked about each one briefly, plus a new movie and online interactive series. They are still awaiting release, with the exception of Ascension, the interactive show which started a few weeks ago. That's already available to join, but it is universally hated.
I think their next goal is to make games with their own team, so their projects will probably be very far off.

I'm confused here about who all are involved. Isn't Bloober Team the developer making a silent hill game? Isn't Konami a developer? I thought they lost their marbles or something. So is this two different developers working together on one game? 

Horror games are something you either love or hate. Whilst some video games are really good and tend to stay on your mind, there is also some horror games that you may regret ever playing.
Have you played a horror video game that you would say is the worst one you have played? If yes, what game was it? 

I would say pretty much any game based on a horror movie. While they may be fun to play, they're usually pretty shitty.
