Reality vs Adventure reacted to killamch89 in What will VR be like in the future?
VR will be even way more immersive and we probably won't need those humongous headsets. Also, I think it'll be far less taxing on you as I've tried out a VR headset myself and after an hour, I started to feel kind of disoriented and nauseous.
You've definitely been playing/watching too much Cyberpunk 2077. You're right, there might be banned VR content but I'm not sure about the rest.

Seen the game gat mostly positive reviews from outlets, publications and youtubers around the end of January and as late as the beginning of March, like this from Angry Joe:

But it's been almost three months since the game came out, so obviously people were going to stop talking about it. It was busy period as well with games like Forespoken and Hogwarts Legacy coming out around the same time as well, so that was a part of the reason why the conversation around Dead Space quickly fizzling out. Give it a month or two, and people will have stopped talking about Resident Evil 4 remake as well, unless Capcom make another stupid move.

Post apocalypse. I have always enjoyed seeing new worlds grow from the ashes of the old world. When done right, it can be truly fascinating to see how this new world survives, grows and evolves in term of social structure, laws, beliefs, traditions and so on. I also really enjoy seeing old tech' meeting new tech' in a creative way, something that goes hand in hand with post apocalyptic themes. Having ancient technology actually being more advanced is just cool idea that opens up a lot of possibilities.

Reality vs Adventure reacted to The Blackangel in Could a game like Manhunt come out today?
Hatred is a good example of the games they want to ban. The only place it's even available anymore is on Steam, as it's been deemed "too violent" by the masses, and as someone who plays the game, I can definitely see why.
All that said, the world has become so pussy whipped, that anything that isn't all sunshine and roses is going to have a huge amount of power hungry assholes with a superiority complex that think their opinion matters and should be taken as gospel.
Manhunt may get made, but don't count on any kind of official release. There's a small chance that it could be "accidentally leaked" by someone at Rockstar. But that's nothing more than wishful thinking if you ask me.
    The following is from Wikipedia:

On July 28, 2004, the game was linked to the murder of 14-year-old Stefan Pakeerah by his 17-year-old friend Warren Leblanc in Leicestershire, England. Initial media reports claimed that police had found a copy of the game in Leblanc's bedroom. Giselle and Patrick Pakeerah, the victim's parents, claimed that the game had influenced LeBlanc and played a role in the murder. The Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers' Association (ELSPA) offered sympathy to the Pakeerah family but rejected any connection between the game and the murder. ELSPA also noted that the game was rated 18 by the British Board of Film Classification and was not intended for minors. Due to controversy, the game was removed from shelves by some vendors, including Game and Dixons. In response, Rockstar reiterated that it was intended for adults and denied any link to the murder. Media speculation of a potential ban on the game increased demand for it at physical and online retailers. Giselle Pakeerah stated her disappointment over the increased interest in the game.
On July 30, 2004, American attorney Jack Thompson, an advocate against violence in video games, claimed to have warned Rockstar prior to the game's release that it could inspire copycat killings. On August 2, 2004, it was reported that the Pakeerahs had hired Thompson to represent them in a £50 million wrongful death claim against Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) and Rockstar Games. That day, the police officially denied any link between the game and the murder, citing drug-related robbery as the motive and revealing that the game had been found in Pakeerah's bedroom, not Leblanc's as originally reported. The presiding judge placed sole responsibility with Leblanc after sentencing him to life. The Pakeerahs' case against SCE and Rockstar was dropped soon thereafter.
There was renewed controversy after the announcement of Manhunt 2 in February 2007, with the Pakeerahs condemning its release. Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive issued a statement that "the Judge, defense, prosecution and Leicester police" in the case had refuted any connection to the game. Jack Thompson unsuccessfully attempted to have Manhunt 2 banned, claiming that Take-Two had lied about the incident and that police were incorrect in asserting the game had belonged to Pakeerah.

If you're hoping for another release, expect a shitload of backlash and fight against the game. With the graphical capabilities that we have now, the game would be deemed more violent and brutal than ever. There would be a full on war against it. So fiscally speaking, it wouldn't be a good thing for Rockstar or Take-Two to try releasing another one in the franchise. At least not until people regrow a god damn backbone.

This is disgusting and it needs to be stopped. Discord shouldn't allow these types of servers to exist, and they should be de platforming any extremist groups that are going to continue to cause harm to society. We're going to have lots of unhinged adults in the future if this is allowed to continue happening.

Check this out! It is an expansion of Neverwinter called Menzoberranzan which is the under dark drow city made famous by R.A. Salvatore! Came out March 28 2023. I wish I could play this, but I don't play MMO. This is exciting though! For me it is a dream to see this expansion after reading those books of Legend of Drizzt. All I can say is WOW. This needs to be a whole game by itself. How I wish!!!!!!!!! Think I'll get this game just for this expansion and try it out. It even has Drizzt in it! One of the most amazing characters in all of D&D universe. I highly recommend you read the first book in the Dark Elf Trilogy called "Homeland." There is also a graphic novel called "Homeland" by Devil's Due Publishing telling the exact story by Salvatore but instead with pictures and less to read if you like that instead. I have both the entire book series and the graphic novels. That first book Homeland was amazing.

Anyway, the last thing I played was Civ VI yet again... I'm now at war with Sweden and Nubia, and I've captured a Nubian city. I'm having a hard time capturing any more, but I won't give up just yet!

This sounds pretty amazing and something I see being a wave of the future of gaming. A volunteer based modding community TESRenewal is working on a major project called Skyblivion that will add the entirety of the game ES Oblivion, map and quests, into the Skyrim and Skyrim SE versions. They say it won't be released for a couple of years, maybe 2025 and looks to be for PC only. This is something very unique and I think it may spur more communities to get involved with mods of older games to integrate into newer sequels. Wow!!!! They are also looking for volunteers who have development skills. I'm sure this is very exciting for fans of the series.

That's exactly right and it's funny you mention that because Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout is now encouraging Trump to seek refuge in Russia. Look at the dictators fall apart. Florida is protecting Bolsonaro from being prosecuted in Brazil. Russia wants to protect Trump from prosecution. And because Putin is a war criminal with an arrest warrant, surrounded by potential assassinators, watch him flee Russia to seek refuge in a camel's ass in Iran or something. They need to kill themselves the way hitler did. Bolsonaro is a bitch. He would rather suck a horse's dick than off himself. Trump is way too narcissistic to kill himself. His chicken shit ass will definitely run away and leave his orange stink all over the deserts of Saudi Arabia, hauling a bag of money like the greedy old fuck he is. Justice is coming after all them shit stained nazis.

Who knows right? Dictators obsessively talk about how bad crime is, so they always look for a scapegoat to blame. They will attack games, music, tv, culture, people, anything and everything to paint themselves as the only savior. I wouldn't be surprised the day they start making laws banning violent video games. To protect the kids right? They are banning books. Teachers and librarians can go to jail now. Hey, why not video games. Start jailing store clerks who sells a game to kids. Jail the guy who sells movie tickets. What is the difference from jailing a librarian? It's already here.

The game is beautiful and interesting no doubt. I can't imagine how Skyrim would have stood the test of time if it weren't for its infamous mods. Fascinating concept right there.

Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this post! I had to go read the news! That orange stain is the 1st ex president to ever get criminally charged. You know all them turncoats are gonna obstruct as much as possible and incite violence. GOP is the Grand Obstruction Party. And no doubt republicans in congress will abuse their power to try and protect the blob of orange goo. Those people were talking about making a bill to protect trump so that no ex president can be charged for a crime. I expect them to now write that bill up. But Biden will veto it. Get your popcorn ready and watch the meltdown of the nazis. Expect the stores to sell out of tiki torches and pitch forks and popcorn. Trump is getting his plane fueled and ready in case he has to flea to Russia to kneel before Putin. Wonder how many times Trump will plea the 5th. He now has to raise money again to pay off justices to protect him. But let's hope he doesn't have his crony judges in Manhattan. This just might make Trump go completely bonkers like we haven't seen yet. No telling what a narcissistic nazi dictator will do with his back against the wall. Hope the fucker pees his pants when he realizes he isn't immune to the law. But who knows. Weasels always manage to find a way and he has the House republicans ready to sabotage the government and incite war to protect that traitor. But this is America and we shouldn't let the mob block the justice system from carrying out their sworn duties. We are the people of law and order. It is up to us real Americans to uphold the law, to protect democracy, and to protect people's rights. Republicans want to take that all away.

Whilst the limitations imposed om modding on the PS4 version of the game are a problem, a positive consequence is that mads on PS4 aren't complex and thus don't tax on the system too much and there isn't much to go wrong. There should be no issue with loading an older save file after installing new mods, but be aware of is that if you load a save file that included a mod you no longer have installed, there can be problems. If it's a mod that adds a certain item (like the increase carry weight ring I brough up earlier), that item will no longer exist. So if you disable or uninstall that increase carry weight ring mod then load a save whare you had it equipped, you'll be stuck in the overnumbered position because the ring is no longer in you inventory. Be especially careful if you install mods that add new buildings or environments in the game becasue if you remove those mods then load a save whare you are in those said environments, the game probably won't load properly.

I have used faster levelling mods before and they are what they are. It's a personal choice whether or not to use them as you might feel you level up too slowly in the vanilla game, but I from experience this can be a double edged sword. Some skills can get, lets say, "left behind" very easily and you might fnd some parts of the game a stuggle because of it.

I have no experience of mod organizers on console, but on PC load order isn't really about loading the bigger mods first, it's more about what mods take priority. For example, if you installed a mod that alters the colour of the game's leather armour, but also a separate mod that changes the texture of the leather armour, you may have to load the two mods in a specific order for them to work in tandem. Again, I'm speaking from experience on PC, but I think it will be the same on console, priority mods get loaded after lower priority ones and will appear nearer the bottom of the list, not the top. Mod managers are generally pretty good at helping you load your mods in the correct order, so trust what the organiser is suggesting to you and you should be fine. Most modders will state in the description whether a mod should be placed before or after other mods in the load order, so read the descriptions fully every time to check.

I'm playing the Special Edition Version of Skyrim on PC, so the mods I'm linking to are the mods compatible with that version of the game.

Most important and the first mod anyone should install is the Skyrim Script Extender. It's a mod that creates an alternate executable file for the game that gives the player, as well as external files and applications, access to Console Commands and script editing. Most mods other than the simplest mods on PC need this to work.

To install, select the appropriate file form the link I gave you, and download the file. Next move the file to your Skyrim folder on you PC (usually found under Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common, I would show a screenshot, but my Skyrim folder is installed in a different location to the default) then using an archive access app, such as 7-Zip, extract the folder into your Skyrim folder.

    Once that's done, your Skyrim folder should look something like this;

As the cursors tell you, you now have a different .exe file to use to start the game. In that screenshot there is also a shortcut I created to that file that I eventfully copied to my desktop, a good thing to do to ensure so you don't get the Script Extender executable file mixed up with the standard one.

The next thing you need to do is download the Vortex Mod Manager and create an account to start using nexus mods. The process is fairly straight forward and there's plenty of tips and videos online to help tech yourself how to use VMM, but I'll obviously help out as best I can if you need help with a specific problem.

We (The VGR community) will obviously be try to assist yourself and anyone else as best we can with trying to install mods, so feel free to ask any and all questions you have. There are no stupid questions nor problem too small.

Now onto the question you asked about the images. The first image is of a player home mod called Sjel Blad Castle and it's pretty self explanatory, It's a massive, beautiful fully equiped and furnished player home complete with followers, displays and convenience features such as a teleport system to help you move around the place and an auto-sort system for you inventory.

The others are just an illustration of some of the enhanced visuals mods I've installed. They basically replace some of the textures and effects that are in the game with other textures and effects created by other people other than the game dev's. A mixture of Realistic Lighting, Realistic Water, This Cites overhaul, This OTHER Cities overhaul, 3D Trees and Plants, Trees in Cities and a Flora Overhaul. They may be more at work than just those, but those are some of the good ones. I've installed other mods to improve the gameplay and immersion such as Rich Merchants so one doesn't have to wonder to town after town to sell of swag, a First Person Perspective overhaul that has the actions as they are in third person mode display in first person (This mod is great, but it does take some getting used to as by default the primary weapon is on the left with secondary on the right, but while dual wielding as I like to do, the weapons look like they've swapped around) mods that add Better NPC AI, Better Follower AI, more Jewellery, Weapons and Armour options to the game.

There's other things like new followers, questlines, character creation mods and alternate face/body textures, but let's not get ahead of ourselves, I think I may have offered enough for now. Like i said previously, please ask if there's something  you want to know

I don't think it's our choice for books to be free on the internet. That should be up to the author and publisher. I do believe all books should be available on the internet whether free or having to buy it. If free, people will look for books most likely at libraries in their online service. In the USA, librarians are at risk of going to prison now just for lending out books to kids that republicans are calling porn. Libraries are shutting down because conservatives are wanting to jail librarians and tell them what books they can keep on shelves. When those libraries stand up for free speech rights, they get shut down. Books that republicans have now banned in schools, well, people still want to read those books. So where do they look? The library. And if it is banned there, then someplace else on the internet? What if the book is banned in the whole state? If that kid downloads a book from somewhere, who will be held responsible? Who will go to jail over it? See how wrong republicans are book banning? This is political now. It's happening. It's important to mention the reality that is taking place in the USA with republicans banning books and not being able to read what you want which is supposed to be protected by free speech rights.

Reality vs Adventure got a reaction from The Blackangel in Republicans are getting rid of child labor laws
Better hope Finland joins NATO. I wouldn't want to be in those countries close to Russia that aren't in NATO. And think about what happens when republicans get rid of child labor laws. By now we should know that everything a republican does starts off little, then they go full obsession in their legislation. Child labor is in the beginning stages of what republicans have in mind, just like every other bill they pass. First it's let kids work at 14, then 13, then 10. At the same time republicans are completely banning workplace training that is supposed to help stop sexual harassment of employees. What the fuck right? You want to send kids to work in a work environment that doesn't respect others and without labor unions. They also want to get rid of affirmative action which gives equal opportunity to ethnicities and females. That means businesses can simply hire cheap labor with kids. Think about how that impacts their education? They should be going to school and studying, not slave labor. Come on, we know what happens. Come and work 10 hours on the weekend. Come and work 20 hours on the weekend. Come and work 30 hours a week. If you want benefits, come and work 40 hours a week and fuck school. Oh, and force that 13 year old to keep a baby and by 14 she can work to support it.

Right? Like damn, let the devs work. I get having a deadline, but maybe if there are problems reaching said deadline, and it's been a problem for a bit, maybe extend the deadline a bit later next time.
But that's what these big studio heads do. They push and prod their developers in making the games as fast as they can to meet a street date.
But, I think these studios are taking notice to the amount of failures that have come out, and are hopefully going to wait until a game is "ready" before actually shipping it. If another Cyberpunk 2077 happens, it's going to end that game.
I think the actual developers need to be the leaders going forward. No more of these rich CEOs running the whole show.
