  1. My husband & I like the Hidden Object ones. Brands we like are OnHand & PopCap. I prefer just finding the objects & not having to follow a storyline. Some storylines make it quite hard to find the objects. There was one game we played years ago. We ended up stopping it because you could tell it was translated very badly from another language. Example: they wanted us to find a ruby, but it was a blue gem. We only figured it out after going out of our minds & clicking around. Who knew the translation would be that far off! Do any of you like the Hidden Object games? If so, what recommendations would you have?
  2. Do you know of anybody who was maybe from your hometown? Since I’m not into sports that much, I haven’t met a Pro athlete. Nobody from our small town ever has been drafted to play either. If you could pick someone to meet, who would you choose? It took me some thinking but I think I would choose someone like Mary Lou Retton. I know she’s older, but she is still an athlete. I pick her because I was a kid when she was in The Olympics doing her gymnastic routine. For a kid, it was quite exciting & I remember my friends & I trying to do cartwheels, handstands, etc.
  3. I remember watching them when I was a kid. Their antics as well as athleticism will keep anybody’s attention onto the game of basketball. Recently I just found out that they started in 1926 in Chicago. For those who watch the Globetrotters, did you realize they have been going on for nearly a century? Have you ever seen them in person? I wonder how that would be as sometimes they pick people from the stands to come onto the court.
  4. A 1996 movie starring Helen Hunt & Bill Paxton. I actually love Bill Paxton’s movies. His portrayal of the characters were quite good. It is about a group of storm chasers who are trying to get funding for their research using a prototype named Dorothy (how quaint lol). Of course they have to have a rival, played by Cary Elwes to add in drama. It was a great movie & I’ve enjoyed watching it several times since it came out. One of the scenes I love the best was when Helen Hunt’s character, Jo, says “Debris”. The “debris” in question was huge lol What did you think of this movie? Did it provide enough action & suspense for you as well?
  5. This started in 1989 & ran for 7 seasons. You would think this would be horror based but I think it wasn’t as bad as some out there. It’s based on E.C. Comic Books from the 1950s. The Crypt Keeper presents the episodes & what I loved about it, was his puns! So dorky but you couldn’t help but laugh. Kids today may just roll their eyes at the corny jokes lol Anybody remember watching this show? Or better yet, actually remember the Comic Books?
  6. This was a TV series starring Anthony Michael Hall & Nicole de Boer. It’s based on the Stephen King book. I never read the book so I can’t say how much is based on that. It started in 2002 & lasted for 6 seasons. It’s about a teacher who is involved in a car accident & ends up in a coma for 6 years. When he woke up, he developed visions & could see parts of the past as well as the future when he touched people. He starts to use his visions to solve crimes. They ended up cancelling it so there was no finale to close the storyline up. However, I did enjoy the story & was sorry to see it end. Did you watch it? If so, what did you think of it? I like Sci-Fi & Stephen King’s stories are quite good in my opinion.
  7. I don’t sing, not in public anyways & certainly not good :) I couldn’t imagine myself singing at Karaoke but I do admit it’d be fun to try, at least once in my life. Have any of you sang Karaoke? What did you think about it? If I had to pick a song, I’d pick It’s my life by Bon Jovi. It has a good beat & I already know most of the lyrics.
  8. I only do if the actors aren’t talking lol Otherwise the music tends to literally be put on the backburner for me. There are some shows i.e. Grey’s Anatomy where they had the characters singing the songs. I found that in that particular episode, the songs fit pretty well with what was going on. I looked up the song & artist & learned of some new ones that I enjoyed as well.
  9. My husband & I play games with my parents often. My mom & I also tend to play our own games i.e. Upwords, Dominoes. We have a term- "tweak". We are constantly tweaking the rules. I really cannot say what we have done because we have been doing it for so many years, I don't know what rules we redid & what rules were original lol Gist, we make it fun! :) What about you? Do you tend to change the rules to fit the people involved? To make it all the more fun?
  10. Do you go all out with a big party, inviting all your friends over? My husband is the sports person here. He just prefers to watch it at home. There’s been a few times years ago he’s gone to a friend’s house but there’s nothing like having control of that remote lol

    Olympics

I used to watch The Olympics years ago. My favorite were the ice skaters & gymnasts. What do you like to watch? Are you passionate about following who leads? Anybody ever tried to actually try out for The Olympics? I am not athletic so I never thought to try. I know they have Special Olympics that I think is quite awesome.
  12. For those who are new to Gaming, are there any websites you would recommend to be up to date with the latest information? The only one I know of that sounds good is PCGamer. What sort of information do you look for in these websites? How often does it change?
  13. Another game from Nintendo back in the day. Same with Tetris, I was hooked on it. I remember playing it for hours, with breaks of course. Since there was no code generated to save where we left off, we had to keep it on. My husband & I both got to quite high of scores. Who has played this game? What newer game would be similar to Dr. Mario now?

    Tetris

Who likes to play Tetris? Many years ago, we had bought a computer. I mean the old kind where you had to boot it up lol We never could figure out how to use it but it did come with Tetris built in. No colors though. I got hooked on it! Years later when my husband & I bought Nintendo, one of the games was Tetris. Much better with the graphics & colors! Do any of you like playing Tetris? I find it's an easy game to learn for all ages.
  15. Ones that aren't too serious with a lot of violence. Preferably ones that have an educational undertone but where the kids don't realize they are actually learning something while having fun. While I don't have kids, I know this topic has come up before in my family & I was always at a loss as to what to say. What do you suggest?
  16. Is there a particular song where you just cannot resist & you get up & dance? What type of song is it & why does it have that affect on you? Is it more the beat or the lyrics? While I don’t dance, in public nor in private, there are some 80’s rock songs like Footloose that I like to dance to. For me, it’s more the beat. It’s a catchy tune. Plus, if you’ve ever watched the movie (the original one especially), you’ll already have it in your mind where the people were dancing around.

    Earworms

They are also called Sticky Songs or Involuntary Musical Imagery. Do you get these often? I do lol You know when you are in a store & the music is playing. Then you get home later & that song is just stuck in your head. How do you get it out? The only trick I've learned is to replace it with another song, preferably one I actually enjoy. Or, just let it run its course.
  18. I grew up watching this in the 80’s. It ran from 1974 to 1983, 9 seasons total. Not including the movies. I used to have the complete set including those movies. I did read the books by the real life Laura Ingalls Wilder. You have to remember that the series is meant for entertainment & drama so is loosely based on her books. Some serious tones to it, but overall, a good, clean wholesome show. Did any of you watch it? Do you happen to catch it when it comes on TV?
  19. A sitcom from the 90’s. When it first came out, I couldn’t stand it. Just grated on my nerves for some reason lol Then after hearing about her real life struggles, made me appreciate Fran Drescher all the more & I took another shot at the series. Yep, loved it! This is another one I’ve watched a few times since. When it’s on TV, I watch the episodes. She plays a cosmetic saleswoman who was fired from her job & broke up with her boyfriend. She applies for a job as a Nanny to 3 children to an English widower. People who aren’t from the era I grew up in, may find it dorky lol What did you think of it?
  20. I don't care to watch them. I've seen some behind the scenes & they make them only for drama not real life. They retake some scenes to add more emphasis on something. I used to love watching House Hunters. Then I found out that the people already found their homes & the homes were i.e. a friend's or somebody else's that they shot that looked good for the show.
  21. I love watching documentaries. The ones I watch the most are nature & animal ones. I like the ones that David Attenborough narrates as I feel he has a great, down to earth voice.
  22. Our living room. Nice place to gather to watch TV, eat dinner. We also sit with our furbabies. Play with our dog in there. I like the way the lighting is. We also have some Christmas lights hung around that we use as a light until we go to bed. It just helps as it's the room where we have to go through to get to other rooms & we don't need to stumble in the dark.
  23. This is a tough one for me as well. I love the beach (note my avatar lol). If the beach were secluded & my own private island with warm weather & palm trees, that would be ideal. On the other hand, I love the woods & being self-sufficient. Tough choice here. I think I would lean more towards the beach for the tropical feel.
  24. Normal person. I'm a private person as well & an introvert. I don't like drawing attention to myself. Celebrities don't have any privacy. Every thing they do is scrutinized. If they eat the wrong thing, wear the wrong thing. Nothing they do is good enough for tabloids.
  25. Without the internet. As long as I have my landline that works. We live rural so while I can do without the internet, I DO need a way to get in touch with people in an emergency.
