Smokey reacted to Reality vs Adventure in Would you agree that gamers are lonely people?
When I grew up in gaming in the 80’s, it was in no way a lonely activity. There were arcade machines everywhere in public places. This was also in Las Vegas though where slot machines were also everywhere. When they removed all the gaming machines from the public eye, that’s when people developed the bias that gamers were lonely or asocial people because they really had no choice but to game at home. People watch tv or serf internet at home too, but the tv is everywhere. It’s socially acceptable. It’s at your workplace, at the auto shop, at waiting areas, and plastered on Times Square. I don’t know what caused the reason to eliminate gaming from the public world, I doubt it was supply and demand because a bunch of people would jump on an arcade game if they brought it back in everyday life. Meanwhile, we game at home where gaming has been pushed by whatever forces out there that decided it should stay at home. Even retail stores who sell video games don’t even allow you to play the games at the store anymore. Not that I see anymore at least. The gaming world is ripe to bring it into the social life where a CEO or a politician can openly talk about a cool game they played with their kids or spouse. What is more likely the case, is people feel like they are above it, above playing games. They see it as immature, while they go dress up and watch a play at a venue because they like to dazzle themselves in jewels and fancy clothes and act like their shit don’t stink. Entertainment is entertainment and if we can save ourselves the hassle of not wasting time driving downtown and get a DWI after a party and instead stay home with a pleasant game that makes you happy and engage with some gaming buddies, then who the fuck is anyone else to judge. Tell them next time they jerk off at the computer, they have to do it as a social group.

Smokey reacted to killamch89 in Do you use emulators for older consoles?
I do - I have RetroArch which has a lot of other emulators included such as Dolphin for Wii games. It serves all my needs - it does take some setup but it's pretty awesome.

Aya has been around long before the Steam Deck so it's not exactly the clone. If anything, the Steam Deck is the one that's the clone. GDP and Oneplayer has also been around long before the Steam Deck and most of them are even more powerful than it. However, they also are more expensive.

Smokey reacted to Shortie in PS2 games you'd like to see remastered or remade?
Not going to lie if we ever saw a remake of Simpsons Hit and Run on Playstation and for some reason it didn't come to Xbox (even though I feel that would be very rare) this would be a game I would jump on Playstation for. I played Hit and Run so much and have been wanting a remake or remaster for the longest time so no matter what console that may come out on, I would be sure to jump on it. Still surprised that we haven't seen a remaster yet being that so many are crying out for it.

Coming back to this thread. I watched the GotG Holiday Special and had a great time, so I was inspired to install the game on PS5 and check it out (It was only 31gb!) and after playing the first two stages I can say that it definitely feels really fun. I really like the little dialog systems where you can join in on the banter, and the combat feels really good!

Smokey reacted to Shagger in Guardians of The Galaxy.
Yes, the 2021 game is (currently) on Game Pass and the 2017 game is not (currently) on Game Pass. It is very fortunate that's true, otherwise it would be impossible to tell what game this was in reference to. Either way, @Smokey mentioning Game Pass was not a deliberate attempt to make it clear what game this was in refence to, and why would @Smokey do that to clarify this? Anyone blessed with both the knowledge there was at least one other GOTG game and even a modicum of common sense would not have relied on that to make it clear. They would art covert art, year of release, link to a store page (For the record, that's what I would do), post a trailer, mention what developer/publisher was behind it, not say "I played it on Game Pass". The only reason that helped was dumb luck.

    So no, @Smokey, you nor anyone else can use the research I did for you as retroactive excuse for piss poor effort you in making your own thread clear. As the thread author, I shouldn't have to do that for you. Mentioning Game Pass made it possible to figure it out what game it, but not only was it complete fluke because the other game just happens to not be on Game Pass right now, it also doesn't serve the purpose in the long term. What if we get a situation in the future that both games end up on Game Pass. Or if the 2021 game leaves Game Pass? Both of you read the OP again and tell me honestly that you would be able to tell what game @Smokey was talking about if either of those things were to happed. Exactly, you can't. Hell, you can't tell what this was in refence to right now just by reading OP, no without doing your own research into what GOTG games are on Game Pass. Much like I did and spared everybody else the trouble. For that, you are welcome @Smokey, but be honest because the truth is plain to see. You failed to clarify what game you were referring to because either;

You didn't know about another Major GOTG game. Couldn't care if there was and was happy to lazily put up a very vague topic up. Or both
Like I said, in the future I expect you to start new threads with same care and effort put into them. I'm not saying it needs to be like one of my infamous reviews with video clips and screenshots that take a day to write, just something clear and concise.

And @Shortie, I know you've got some sort of issue with me, but believe it or not I have no issue with you. I massaged you one time over a very minor thing and now you're on a bloodhunt for some reason. Following my posts around to then pounce on them and take the opposite stance just to provoke me is pathetic. Just like here, you will inevitably get tripped up and say something that makes no sense and just makes you look foolish because when one writes a forum post in anger, one never thinks it through. I've been in you position myself and it never ends well. So for your own sake, not mine, drop this vendetta and just enjoy the forum.

Either way, discussion on this issue is closed. It's clear what game this was about, it was clear before @Shortie's spiteful and completely unnecessary provocation, we can all move on.

Which Pokemon games did you have as a kid? on the gameboy color I had Red, Blue, Yellow and Silver. I never got Gold or Crystal but as a kid I always wanted the latest one that came out 😛 I cooled down as I got older, I think the last one I bought was Alpha Sapphire on the 3DS if memory serves correctly. Although I do have fond memories of playing Yellow & Silver in middle school.

Which Pokemon Game(s) did you have? Which was your favorite?

Yes, exactly, the fog was to make it so that texture pop-in wasn't as noticeable due to the draw distance allowed  due to the limitations of the original playstation. In turn, doing this as a unique way to hide such limitations, created an eerie atmosphere that became a staple of the series.

Considering Smokey stated it was a game on GAME PASS and there is only one on game pass I'd say that's self explanatory.
I haven't played the game myself or seen the movies but it's not the first time I've played a game and not seen the movies. Might check this out see what it's like over the Christmas period.

Smokey reacted to Shortie in Portable versions of home consoles?
I have always seen portable consoles that are made by fans for games such as DreamCast but I can't think of any off hand that are official if I am honest. I would love to see a portable Xbox if I am honest but I don't see that happening any time soon or at least I haven't seen any fans make one at the moment. I guess with them having the cloud gaming being able to game on phones and tablets is one way of it being handheld but it would be awesome to have something that is actually portable and like the Xbox controller.

I myself have tried in the past to miss seasons since I started playing but my mind always kicks in that I will miss out on so much and I end up going back and playing the seasons anyway just so that I get the skins, in game items and so much more. I wouldn't say that Fortnite has become addictive for me but I do like to say I participated in each season since I started playing.

I last played some 8 Ball Pool on my mobile phone a little bit ago, it was a nice change to play that for a little while and I did quite well on it for not playing pool on my phone for a while.

Smokey reacted to Shortie in Private servers?
I wouldn't say it was a game that I loved but it was a game that I did play in the past and then played on a private server which was Phantasy Star Online. I think it's great that there are still private servers of this game to be honest as it means you can often jump in and even catch up with old friends that you used to play the game with if you each know the server you are using.

Yeah trolls get their kicks out of the attention so the more attention it gets the better it is for them no matter the consequences for others. No matter how much you tell people though that not go give in to the trolls, people still will and things like this will always keep going and will always get the reaction they do.

Smokey reacted to Shortie in Was Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 from 2009 really that 'good'?
Back when it was first released and when we didn't know anything like we do now for the games it was a game that I really did enjoy a lot and I remember playing it for hours with friends and had a lot of fun. I feel that if it was to be released at a time such as now, knowing what they are capable of for their games now, to me it wouldn't have been the greatest of games. Back then it was all new to use what they were doing with Modern Warfare 2 so back then it felt like a really good game.

I remember people saying the fog and the radio in the SH games was also because of the limitations of the era, but they became a staple or recognisable asset to the series. Even the little doot doot sound when you pick up something, I like. You know it's a SH game if you hear the little noise.

May have to check that out and see if I can pick them up when I have some extra funds to be able to do so. Would love to be able to play a game I never was able to and it would give me something different to play if I am honest when I feel l like a change from the usual.

Yes, we had 2 because when me and my brother each bought our xbox one consoles, they were forcing them on people. It was a cool gimmick for maybe 10 minutes, then It got kinda annoying if I'm honest. The audio quality of the built-in mic was garbage and the idea of 'being watched' constantly is enough to creep someone out. 😛  What if someone was doin' the deed? Eh? Eh?! 😛

I honestly never played Dead or Alive myself but my brothers played it and it did look like a game I would be interested in but my brothers being how they were back then wouldn't always let me play so I gave up and never bothered. I would love to play them though at some point if I am honest.

I was gonna buy the skin pack but i'm lacking vbucks and money is tight for me right now around the holidays so it's something i'll have to hold off on and wait for the inevitable 're-release' when it comes back around to the shop.

I wouldn't say it is. Just like I wouldn't' say Xbox Achievements are that important. Back in the day when they first started it, sure I was interested in getting all those achievements/trophies etc. But I don't think it's necessarily ever was important to me. I just like racking up a big score for all the games I played. :D
