I normally use it to look up Steam Sale Events and check if games I'm interested in have some kind of discount or deal.

yeah, it's also interesting for me to check how different the prices are for the steam regional pricing. 😁

When it was first discovered, people used to buy games and steam codes in the turkish or cheaper regions to gift or sell, now that isn't possible anymore I think.

Well the Zombie game would annoy me too if I would get blasted with white noise during a game I was forced to lose, and I always felt being good at the game or getting lost in it gave me more self esteem?

If it wasn't for games I probably wouldn't be where I am in live or have the imagination I have that carries me through difficult times.

yeah, many games have invoked positive types of thinking for me ever since, since it invokes creativity, although there are some bounds that must be treaded carefully when it comes to violence and stuff etc.

Most versions of Linux isn't beginner and user-friendly and they always take some setup to get going whereas Windows just works right out of the box. Mind you, I have my own issues with Windows and I'd probably use Linux if it was more compatible with other software.

    Yeah, well, it's a catch 22 I guess. A chicken and egg 🐣 situation,
Microsoft Windows, is BIG, that's why people dev for/on it. and since that happens, (not much) people see an incentive to create stuff for Linux at all.

Like there aren't many games that natively support the Linux system, which valve claims to be doing.

    rinse repeat. πŸ”

Also Microsoft is a big company, of course they'd try to get things to work simply out of the box, though that's not to say they don't have their share of bugs at all. πŸ˜…

    ahhh, now I get it...

As of March 2018, it is the third-largest publicly traded game company in the Americas and Europe after Activision Blizzard and Electronic Arts, with an estimated market cap of US$13 billion.[3]

I have had similar experience with such kind of people who rates anime lovers low and to be very honest with you, I don't give a damn about what they say because it's completely useless. I'm even in one anime forum and I'm enjoying my time there.Β

That's true, and I do agree that a large portion of the VN industry thrives on using such fanservice for profit, but what I meant was that people tend to generalize that all VNs are like that, when there's plenty of solid VN titles that aren't just porn simulators, not to mention certain VN studios which publish VNs that avoid sex scenes altogether like Key (Little Busters, Clannad, Kanon, etc. are all family-friendly). The Higurashi games are suitable for all ages, ironically, considering that the anime adaptations are all filled with blood and gore. Most people's favorite anime like Steins;Gate and Fate/Stay Night came from visual novels too.

I just think it's a shame for people to just dismiss such a great storytelling medium as "hurr durr, cringey nude anime girls go brrr."

    ah yes...

fate stay night is also infamous for it's original "eroge" status. 🀣

I'm aware there's family friendly, versions, but man when you discover years down the road abut that "extra" content. πŸ˜‚

anyway, I can't blame people too much for lumping everything anime = big fat weeb cringe group of people.

this is the internet, everything in the open is a cesspool. 🀣

you gotta go find people willing to talk about such stuff, those that don't care, don't, and prefer to have shouting matches over twitter. πŸ˜‚ and based on psychology everyone has their bias.

I like lots of "animation" in general, not just "japanime", but anyway,Β  the internet is full of failure to convice other people about "japanime" anecdotes.

just keep calm and soldier on XD

I don't understand why people call consoles "too expensive" when they same people say they will play on PC, which is significantly more expensive.

And before anyone says it, no, the gaming PC serving as a utility as well as a gaming device argument doesn't work ether a the comments you need to make a gaming PC a gaming PC are are not necessary in a simple, utility computer, and it's in those comments that all cost for a gaming PC comes from. You can buy a PS5 and a cheap laptop to cover both the utility PC needs and your gaming need and still have spend less than half what it would cost to build a gaming PC that matches the performance of a PS5. It's not like I'm white knighting here for consoles, I am a PC gamer, but I'm also honest and the PC as a gaming platform is expensive. Can it be worth it? Yes, not to everyone, largely because the install price is so high. It's not like PC games are that cheap compared to consoles now, especially when you consider you can't loan, trade and buy second hand games on PC like you can with consoles.

So sorry, @Gonassis, I disagree. The cost of consoles argument doesn't hold weight me when comes from a PC gamer. It's totally fair to not see a games console as being a worthwhile investment for you because you a gaming PC, that's fair, but there's a difference between cost and value. Value is something judged and gained by the individual, so the value of something is determined by your own self and nobody can argue with it, but cost a simple, straight up fact. That fact is the PC costs more, it just does. Unless you can show me a PC or PC build that matches the capabilities of a games console for same price, that will remain as a fact.

Well, those are all completely valid points @ShaggerΒ πŸ‘

I was quoting the post selling second hand PS5's at a higher price than original sold for price. 😁

but anyway, yeah, it's totally up to preference for people on what they want, and I'm not really the type to bash other people on how, and where they want to play their games to enjoy "Playing" and have fun.

after all that's what we all play game for. (or at least that's what I think, if anyone plays for work or a career, well, I have nothing to do withΒ  it lol.

As for gaming PCs. I'm still far from attaining my "ultimate" dream gaming PC, as I'm still climbing that ladder, but I agree that with consoles, you have uniformity like the iPhones, that means that if it works on one, it will consistently work across all models of the same type because they've been optimized for the hardware. πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

also I wonder what the future has in store when it comes to gaming hardware, maybe the line will be blurrier in the future when it comes to gaming "devices" πŸ˜‹

  9. I can't select none lol @YaramakiΒ πŸ˜‚
maybe it should be added as one of the options.

Does anyone here still subscribe to gaming magazines? I imagine most magazines don't come out physically anymore, but mostly digitally. Does that count towards this topic? I miss the days of gaming magazines when they also offered game discs. Good times!Β

Those were the days when magazines came with a demo disk, while the magazines were mostly shit like opm you just got these for the demo disk, good times as a kid and a great way to discover new games and kill a few hours in anticipation whenever your parents would give you a new game. Oh man more simpler times that sadly will never come back.

I never experienced that time period exactly, but I've seen enough stories and anecdotes to feel that was a sort of good unique experience when the internet basically didn't exist like now, and LAN parties and game clubs and guide books were a thing.

Games were basically a new and unknown frontier, rewarding the explorers.

I didn't exist yet at that time lols. 🀣

I don't know how I feel about the only capable studio that Microsoft has in terms of tech helping others while basically halting their own game development. Especially with regard to niche games like SoD 3.

Wait, is this about the devs of Gears of War specifically? I wonder what's the reason they have to go help out with state of decay in the first place?

  11. Nope, I've never owned a PS5 and have no plans on getting one...
that could change in the future if it was up to fate or chance for me to actually own one.

like if a friend sold it to me at a discount for example. πŸ˜‰

that asides, I don't think I want one. I'm sticking to PCs.

PS5 might be scarce, but I've seen lots of people here in my locality selling it's fairly used version, which is close to $1,000 in price around $900 for PS5. Check the link below to see one of them listed at jiji.ng:

That's very expensive for a console, even for a second hand... 😫

  12. I haven't played many games where empathy is invoked, maybe in a game like life is strange I remember thinking philosophically about some of the characters choices and burdens. πŸ€”

This game is such a product of its time, in world where everyone was bumping out call of Duty’s and making you mow down endless people without batting an eye, this game tricks you beautifuly into playing its game, and you make the same choices as walker and make the same excuses as him too. You don’t even stop to think until someone else has already suffered. I’m glad I experienced this without spoilers all those years ago. And that many people are aware of its genius.

Reminds me of the infamous "no rusian" CoD mission and all the controversy and uproar it caused.

I think I'm not gonna spoil myself too much from what you've already said here and add this game to my wishlist, thanks. πŸ˜‰

looks like a very good game/movie-like story in my opinion.

I generally don't tell people I watch anime, because even in modern communities,Β especiallyΒ Discord, people still make fun of you for being a "weeb." It really doesn't hep that I'm also a big visual novel fanatic, and VNs tend to be labeled as "weeb games with naughty anime girls," when nothing could be further from the truth.

I feel the same way slightly, although my opinion on sharing "anime" with other people is 50/50. πŸ€”

VNs tend to be labeled as "weeb games with naughty anime girls," when nothing could be further from the truth.

well to be honest, this is true to a certain degree though... hehe. πŸ˜… as a lot of VN's have "patched" versions, but of course not all of them. 😁

also go browse a while on r/goodanimemesΒ and you'll find kindred spirits. XD

anyway, my opinion on "weebs" on the internet is 50/50, I enjoy anime, or "japanime" but if a person has no interest in it like on discord, then I'll just avoid talking about it. πŸ˜…

But hey, there's plenty of weebs here and there, especially with the Vtuber trend booming now. πŸ˜€

It's been noticeable for quite some time now. They're going down the modern Rockstar route and being very greedy and anti-consumer.

what do you mean by rockstar route? rockstar games? πŸ€”

I read more into what they are offering with these voice options and honestly I think it's really cool. Not only will it help with accessibility for some, it could be a useful tool to interact with your game even better. Talking to NPCs and stuff, doing certain commands and so on. It sounds a lot more advanced than what I first thought.Β

Hmmm, well I think that's better than what I initially thought, also, there's also that subsection of gamers that "accessibility" options or controls will be hugely useful for. πŸ˜€

yeah, it's a totally useful tool for people who dig into the information for various reasons, though for people like me, it's good to satisfy my curiosity.

Also, you can see the prices for the steam regional pricing, and also see the lowest price when a game has been on sale historically. 😁

Thanks for sharing this one, Techno. This'll be something else for my partner and I to collectively cack our khakis to, hopefully with laughter rather than terror.

Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared is a comedy horror series on YouTube. It's meant to be like children's television shows with puppets, but it's juxtaposed by the horror elements such as disturbing imagery, discordant music and creepy writing.

While I do appreciate you asking for context, I recommend you use Google first to find things out and then make a post. This isn't a telling off, just advice for all users so we don't clog up the pages. ^^

oh, thanks for the reminder @Withywarlock, I'll keep that in mind... I usually google stuff 99% of the time, but I sort of wanted a personal context this time... hehe. πŸ˜…
