Akun reacted to Grungie in I Hate To Admit It, But Digital Distribution Is Growing On Me....
I’m not sure what’s really exhausting about acquiring a physical copy of a game. If it’s a popular title, I can easily get it from a store, and if it’s not popular, I just order it on Amazon. It doesn’t take much of my time to get a game physically.
If the game was brand new, it was a very rare issue to see the disc scratched. I also own hundreds of used disc based games, and none of them were too scratched to not work. I could be super lucky.
I get the convenience of not having to wait for a game to be delivered, but the exhausting nature of physically acquiring a game is completely foreign for me.

Akun reacted to killamch89 in What RPGs have the most varied ending branches?
I remember Star Ocean: The Second Story on the PSP had a lot of endings to the story - I know it was over 50 (that's what the developers said). I just checked and it had 87 endings...wow! That reminds me - I need to download it for my PSP emulator.

Akun reacted to killamch89 in Did you give in to the remakes?
That's not really it either - The Last Of Us didn't need a remake especially when the sequel just came out a year or two ago. They could've given it a bit more time before doing a remake.

Akun reacted to killamch89 in Do you pay attention to the music in movies & TV shows?
I agree - For instance, if someone were to play some of the tracks from Batman the animated series, I'd recognize it in a heartbeat whereas if you played some tracks from Game of Thrones, I wouldn't recognize most of them even though I did watch the whole series because they just aren't as memorable.

Akun reacted to The Blackangel in Do you wanna pay $70 for Skyrim? F**K Nintendo!
Getting back to topic, Nintendo can charge these prices due to brand loyalty. There are loyalists for every gaming platform, and they’re not willing to give other platforms a chance. Nintendo has the biggest amount of loyalists simply because it has been around so much longer. Those of us who grew up on Nintendo, tend to (at the very least) prefer Nintendo. I started out gaming on Atari 2600 and Colecovision. When the NES hit the market in 1985, I desperately wanted one. Ever since then I’ve mainly been a fan. Especially for some of their exclusive’s like the Zelda franchise. All that said, they can jack up the prices however high they want, and people will pay it. It’s a sad fact of corporate greed. They know they can get away with gouging consumers, so they see no reason not to.

I could understand that.
To be clear, I hate elitism in all things, but particularly in gaming as well. I hate being called a "casual gamer" just because I don't enjoy the AAA games most people enjoy, for example.
But I think where I was coming from with the "Master Race" thing was that I wasn't intentionally using it in the elitist way. I get what you're saying, and I get that it is associated with elitism, but I feel like a lot of words (where the meaning isn't as obvious as blatantly offensive words like Nazi and the other n-word) are thrown around on the Internet in an ironic but humorous fashion that the original definition of such words become blurred, and oftentimes, I get called out for being too sensitive when they're "just joking around," so the "proper etiquette" for behaving towards such ambiguous usage of words just becomes confusing. "Git gud" is one such term where it can be interpreted as a mocking kind of term to ridicule people who aren't good at games, and yet people have criticized me for getting sensitive about it, saying "it's just a joke and no one really use it unironically," so I just don't even know what the proper standards are. I'll still refrain from using it, but I wanted to explain where I'm coming from and how I was influenced into using such loaded words in such a frivolous fashion.

Akun reacted to Shagger in Do you wanna pay $70 for Skyrim? F**K Nintendo!
I didn't just ask that for my sake, I'm not the only one who really hates that. Still, I appreciate that, so thank you.
I want you to understand something though. It's not just the term and what it means in history that bothers me. As a PC gamer, I find the idea that we are somehow better than other gamers just because of a platform presence abhorrent and fundamentally wrong, and there's a reason. I was once part of a forum and gaming community that was about gamers grouping up and organizing with each other to play games together, but at first they absolutely refused to support those of people played on console and excluded them. Whenever we tried to organise our own game nights on console, they shut us down. Even on cross platform games they set the rules up in such a way that we could not join in. So you see, I'm not just being some "snowflake", "PC Master Race" is an attack of the very principles I hold as a gamer. None of the arrogance and elitism that some PC gamers feel is justified and just like how me and a few others refused to let to let it be acceptable back then, I refuse to let it be acceptable now.
Anyway, rant over. Once again, thank you for being cool about this.

Well here's some Nintendo Switch related bullshit to brighten up your day:
https://kotaku.com/elder-scrolls-skyrim-nintendo-switch-anniversary-1849599263
In case your not aware the Anniversary Edition of Skyrim is basically the same as the Special Edition except it's got The Creation Club content included. Creation Club is where you go to pay money for user created mods instead of going to Nexus Mods to get far superior content for free because.... your a jackass. The Anniversary Edition is something like £15/$20 upgrade or £43/$50 full purchase on PC Steam for this over a decade old game and it's almost universally agreed by Stream users that this clearly not worth it. Yet not only is it $70 on the Nintendo Switch, as as I can tell there's no option to upgrade either! It's the full whack $69.99 even if you own the Special Edition already.
I genuinely don't understand how Nintendo keep getting away with charging such a premium which has happened multiple times. Why are games so expensive on the Switch when in many cases the ports are inferior? This is ridiculous.

Akun reacted to killamch89 in Which is better? Everybody Loves Raymond or Friends?
Chandler, Joe And Ross were the most hilarious members of the show. Anytime those three were together, you just knew something stupidly hilarious was bound to happen.

Akun reacted to killamch89 in What concepts do you want implemented in a future video game?
So true - it just cheapens the experience honestly. We get that it's an illusion of choice but at least make it have some influence...
Maybe not - you could have a sequel that checks which choices you made in the game prior and starts off with a start that reflects those choices. I agree it'd be time consuming to implement but it doesn't make sense giving us choices if it doesn't matter in the end.

Akun got a reaction from killamch89 in What are you listening to right now?
This song came on when I was buying dinner at Long John Silver's. It feels good, the song. Feels gentle, romantic, with a tinge of melancholy.

It also means creating multiple games for different choices. No game studio would ever greenlight that, unfortunately, because that costs unreasonable amount of time and budget. You might get lucky to get a really dedicated studio that devotes 10-20 years of its time creating multiple games for the choices of ONE single game, but I haven't seen such a game yet.

Akun got a reaction from killamch89 in I don't think a movie on Hitman (Agent 47) works
It won't work because of how Hollywood makes movies these days. I enjoy depth in my characters as much as the next guy, and Daniel Craig is easily my favorite Bond of all time, but if you look at the older Bond films, you could see a workable template for Agent 47, where a perfect killer just goes around killing bad guys without mistake. That's boring if done poorly, but if his kills are executed creatively enough, that makes it fun to watch, the same way Bond films are fun to watch even though it's just some British spy killing shallow and egomaniacal villains trying to take over the world.
The Jason Bourne films have a great template for this as well. The way he effortlessly kill people could be done for Agent 47 as well.
I also feel like parts of Mission: Impossible 3 were the Hitman film we never got, especially the scene where Ethan went through several disguises while infiltrating the enemy base. That's basically what Agent 47 does, and Tom pulled it off with just as much professionalism and sleekness. Just repeat that, but with Agent 47.

I was born in 1990, so NSYNC/Britney were my bob, plus late '90s/'00s MJ.

Akun got a reaction from killamch89 in Which gadget do you use most?
My smartphone, definitely, but it's beaten by my usage of my PC, which I use very often daily. I haven't used my TV in a long time, but that might change from now on, now than I'm back to binging TV shows.

Akun reacted to melanie_marie27 in Would you eat fast food every day if it was good for you?
That's good. I'll tell you one gross thing they've been doing lately here at Mc's.. adding tons of this "salt and pepper" mix to the burgers.
I now have to say "1 plain McDouble with NO salt or pepper please." Really, I just mean the pepper. I didn't know it was a salt and pepper mix and trust me, it ruins the whole taste.

Akun got a reaction from melanie_marie27 in Would you eat fast food every day if it was good for you?
Yeah, I grew up on McDonald's, so I can't help but 'loving it,' as the company slogan says. Plus, I'm spoiled by our local food delivery service, Grab, which means I got to have McDonald's very often delivered right to my doorstep. It's expensive, costing $20-$30 per meal (paying for two), but convenient.
I got kinda tired of the meals after having it for two weeks straight though, so I'm not sure if I'd bother eating fast food everyday even if it's healthy for me. If it's different fast food chains aside from just McDonald's alone though, maybe, but our KFC here doesn't cook their chicken well (you could find blood in them often), and the burgers and fries of other fast food chains just don't taste as good as McDonald's. I know McDonald's food doesn't have the best reputation in America, but the Singaporean McDonald's isn't just tastier, but a lot less disgusting too. It tastes fresh most of the time unless it's delivered at night (when they bring out the leftovers sitting in storage throughout the day).

Akun reacted to killamch89 in Are you a mobile gamer?
They're full of microtransaction systems that put EA and others to shame but nobody hardly every mentions it because a good number of these same mobile game developers sponsor a good amount of YouTubers so you'll never hear the truth about these sort of things.

Akun reacted to killamch89 in General Gaming Discussion
Agreed - I can value a developer's stance but if I don't enjoy their games, why buy them? Isn't that why we play games?

Akun reacted to runswithspatulas in gaming and our connection with others
Same here. I actually did better in fortnite by myself. But I started having heart trouble so I set those games aside. I don't need the extra stress. Plus with all the hacking it became no fun anymore. I don't even like multiplayer in my cozy games that much either. I had a very aggressive person visiting my ACNH island and she freaked out on me because I wouldn't let her in certain places like my house at the time cuz I had lots of stuff laying out that she could've picked up. I had to close out messenger cuz she was chewing me out and I had to kick her off my island. I'm not used to socializing in video games and it's sometimes just as awkward as face to face conversations.

Akun got a reaction from melanie_marie27 in Movie Theater Snacks: Popcorn and...which candy?
I tend to stay away from popcorn because I don't like the skin of the nut within the popcorn (I don't know what it's called). It makes me cough and just feels unpleasant.
I would usually just buy a hotdog bun or spicy potato chips for movie theater snacks, maybe some M&M's to spice things up.

Akun got a reaction from melanie_marie27 in Do you use your PC to watch movies more than TV?
I do this quite often because my gaming chair setup is just a lot more comfortable than my 4K mounted TV setup. The TV's tilted in a way that I couldn't relax as comfortably. Still, I try to watch movies on my TV as often as I can because it's 4K after all, and I want my movie experience to have that kind of awesome visuals.

Akun got a reaction from melanie_marie27 in Do you like brownies with or without walnuts?
I don't like most nuts, especially walnuts and almond. And while I like peanuts, mixing them with chocolate brownies tastes weird. I prefer my brownies without nuts.
