I primarily use a PC I built for gaming, so please bear with me when I say I have a MacBook lol.

But I do have a 2011 MacBook Pro (hopefully will upgrade next year lol). All I do to keep it running pretty cool is have it sit on a large, thin book. My 15" MacBook sits just about perfectly on this large Star Wars book I got when I was younger, and the book isn't too thick. This keeps it from being directly on my lap.

"Laptops" aren't really made to be on your lap as I'm sure we all know lol. When I worked for Apple, we weren't even allowed to call the MacBook a laptop, it always had to be a notebook. Just because they didn't want people thinking they should keep them directly on their laps (which I totally understand lol).

Maybe if you are trying to roast your genitals then it would be very useful. 🤣🤣🤣

  2. It will be out by November of this year because GTA V for PC was released a year after the console releases so I wouldn't be that concerned. Luckily, I have it for Xbox one(although my cousin keeps my Xbox one most of the time.) so I can play it when I want. They also seem to be having some issues with the Red Dead Redemption Online game mode for consoles so you have to give them a bit of time to get it working as well.

I live in a single room apartment atm. Other than that I sometimes game on my commute. I plan to set up a gaming room when I get a bigger place though.

I also plan to do the same but my one bedroom apartment is very spacious so my living room has a good amount of space for my gaming setup.

  4. I was using dropbox up until last year when I got hacked and that taught me a valuable lesson that using free cloud storage is basically asking for trouble. I have since moved on to P-cloud which has bank level encryption and is very safe and works with a lot of programs. It is highly rated among lots of business professionals including content creators so I urge you to check it out. The paid subscription I purchased is the $95 dollars per year package which gives you 2 Tb of storage although you can purchase a lifetime subscription for $350 dollars which as a content creator is a very worthwhile investment. pCloud

  5. There are plenty of websites that will sell you copyright-free music for a monthly subscription fee and the creative commons 0 license which means it can be used for any and everything without attribution.

PayPal if I can. Not a fan of giving out my credit card information online.

I completely agree. I always use Paypal and I have both a US one which is my shopping/personal one and a business Paypal account.

  7. I have a lifetime subscription of a software called Adguard which blocks all ads - even on mobile phones if you have Adguard installed on your phone. It was worth the $30 dollars that I paid last year for it.

I would watch several different videos about building it. I think that helped me the most the first time I did it because I saw a lot of different possibilities and felt more prepared when I actually got all of my parts ready to go.

As far as picking the parts you want, https://pcpartpicker.com/ is the way to go. This will help make sure the things you're picking actually work together, plus it will tell you how much the build you've picked out costs.

For gaming, I would spend the most on your graphics card of course. RAM and processor next, and then the rest. As a general guideline.

I told him the same thing in another post - Pcpartpicker is the place to go but it also helps to review the suggested build on forums like linustechtipsforum to get some valuable answers about the build.

  9. I have used a warranty only once when I received a PC with a faulty motherboard when I much younger. Warranties are really useful but you need to read it carefully to fully understand what circumstances does the warranty apply and what can void it. I see you mentioned that the warranty renewal will be 15 dollars a month for 3 years which comes up to 540 while repairing it is 160 + labour and parts which I suspect would be around 300 dollars. I find it odd that typing too much on a laptop keyboard would do that because I also type a lot on my Acer Gaming laptop as well and I have never encountered such an issue. As @skyfire mentioned, keyboards especially on laptops are designed to take a pounding so they should repair your laptop no questions asked because that is a faulty laptop keyboard because no laptop keyboard I know is supposed to break from something like that.

I think Intel seems to be dominating the student and the business editions of the PC and laptops. Only the gamers seems to be using the AMD for some time now. I can tell you that it can be pretty effective to check out  some of the processor upgades since i7 6th generation. But based on recent graphics improvement. I think AMD may catch up soon as well.

AMD has already caught up to Intel since the release of the Zen Processors last year and the processors coming out in July-August will completely blow Intel out of the water because they will be WAY more powerful than the previous Zen chips.

  11. Linux has nowhere near the same level of integration and features as Windows and isn't a stable gaming platform. As @UleTheVee mentioned Linux shines at programming and nothing else. Until the developers can get their platform to rival the functionality and integration of Windows and to an extent a Mac, then Windows will always be the go-to choice for PC gaming.

    Okay, MASSIVE SPOILERS FOLLOW.

Booker DeWitt is a fascinating protagonist because it turns out that he's also the game's antagonist, Comstock. His self from a parallel universe is the enemy he is battling through the entire game.

But what makes this particularly interesting is that there is a deep logic to the situation. Booker's past involved him doing some horrible things and being exposed to some terrible situations (incidentally based on real world events). He was deeply traumatized by this, and in the other universe, he coped with the monstrous things he had done by going all out and embracing that monstrosity.

So in a surprisingly literal way, Booker is battling his own psychological and spiritual demons through the game. Through the grace of his daughter and the force of his own will, he makes a choice at the end of the game to erase all possible futures as Comstock. Considering the evil within him was momentous enough to almost destroy the multiverse, the fact that he managed to beat it speaks volumes to his ultimate goodness.

That is a very valid lesson actually because a lot of times, you really are your own worst enemy. When you need to get something done but you feel too lazy to do it and you literally have to fight yourself to get it done. Or when you are doing something challenging and you suddenly start to doubt yourself which stops you from doing your best.

  13. I used to do that in high school where I would be gaming for 8 to 10 hours and be late for school the next day but nowadays, I set a time limit of 3 hours maximum and I don't go beyond that. Otherwise, I won't get anything done.

  14. I currently have a GTX 1080 TI 11gb along with an I7 processor that crushes most games except the Witcher 3 (for obvious reasons.). I am planning to go all AMD this year though so I will either buy a Radeon VII or the new Navi GPUs coming out in July along with the new line of Zen processors coming out in July-August.
