  1. Lots of "normies" criticise gamers for "wasting valuable time on a hobby that does not contribute to a personal development/self improving". This might be true, especially with MMORPG (IMHO), but what they do not realise is that they also waste their valuable time on useless stuff. In my opinion, watching sports is the most useless activity which leads to zero personal development. Yet, millions watch football. Why? Because it's fun and they like it. Well, guess what, uncle Jim, I enjoy games and games are not inferior to watching 22 men in shorts chasing a ball.

  2. I think the vast majority understand the harm of modern lifestyle and how important exercising is. But not many really "get" it. I started working out regularly only after I've put so much weight I started having minor heart problems. Only after that I got it "Oh, crap, if I carry on like that, it'll get even worse and I won't be even able to walk without dripping sweat."

    People "get" it late.

Most of the points I would've said have already been said, so I'd just suggest a site called Is There Any Deal where you can find, as the title suggests, if there's any discount on the games you're looking to buy.

Also, avoid preordering and wait for a week or two after the game is released if you're really eager to play it as soon as possible. In that period you'll get the most honest opinions from players and potentially avoid burn from high expectations.

IsThereAnyDeal is good, but I prefer GG.deals much more. It's pretty much the same, but it has modern design, voucher codes are included in prices by default and historically lowest prices are nicely highlighted so it's easier to spot good deals. I also like how wishlist and price alerts are separate, so you can sync all interesting games from Steam wishlist, but only get notifications for few selected games. Also, you can get notifications only on historical lows (I believe this feature is missing on ITAD).

Having said that, ITAD does support more stores and has many advanced functionalities. So it's best to try both sites and see which one fits your needs better.

  4. Younger me would have conflicting feelings. In one hands, younger me would be happy to see me doing so well in life (especially working from home, she'd piss herself from happiness). On the other hand, she'd also really sad cause I don't like lots of things younger me used to cherish (eg. Im not a cat's person anymore) and things that've happened to my mental health... younger me never used to be disturbed my such things.

  5. Hands down, PC is the supperior gaming experience. But it might not suit everyone. Eg. I work on the computer pretty much every day. My life would've been really miserable if I rested at the same place I work. I like stretching my legs on bed-sofa, playing Persona 5 on my nice big TV.

  6. I think the issue of gaming addiction is real, but it should never be looked into on its own. A truly happy (or just normal), ambitious child or adult would never get dependant to the games to an extent of addiction. There's a difference between gamer who finds time to fulfill their responsibilities, maintain social bonds, personal hygiene etc, and a person who can't function normally in society due to the fact that he/she is a gamer. There can be a number of mental health issues involved which cause such kind of disturbing behaviour (could be anything from bad parenting and child trauma to a depression, social adaptation problems). Basically, gaming addiction is most likely a result of mental health issue(s). As the result, targeting games in this battle is counter-productive, and psychologist would be much more helpful.

  7. Never downloaded games. It's lousy and filthy, and whoever says "I download to try and if I like the game, I'll buy it to support the creators", 99% chance they'll never buy and say it to stop the losing argument.

  8. My perfect plan for the rainy day is ordering takeaway (or cooking takeaway-like food myself), taking my favourite blanket, watching movies or playing games.

Also, since I don't go out on rainy days, I call my friends and relatives and catch-up with them. I'm bad when it comes to sustaining the contacts regularly, but rain is a good opportunity to fix it.

  9. The problem I have with gaming is that there's always something else, more important thing to do: wash the dishes, tidy up the house, read a book, get the fire alarm fixed etc.

But, I guess, procrastination has nothing to do with gaming at all. Ppl avoid important tasks no matter what hobby they fancy.

Sounds an amazing offer and definitely better than my Pay as You Go with Tesco. I'm interested to find out more about this.

How long is the contract for? I'm guessing you don't get a phone as part of the deal.

It was a limited time offer, I think. You had to be lucky enough to discover it and get the contract within specific time frame. The contract is 1 year and, of course, no phone. I used my old one to get the deal.

  11. The longest I could do was 37 hours, during my bachelor's degree. But no way I'm doing it now.  I need sleep so much that even when I was doing Master's, which was more serious and hard work, I couldn't do an all-nighter without getting at least 2-hour nap (ideally 4).

I can get on with the day after 7 hour sleep. If I sleep less than that, it'd be barely functional.
