With news of some behind the scenes goodness from the in-production Jurassic World: Dominion, news has surfaced regarding a new video game in the form of a newly registered trademark by Universal.

There’s some backstory for this one: Back in 2016, Perfect World Entertainment had been working on a open world third person survival game entitled Jurassic World Survivor, which was unfortunately scrapped. However, according to Jurassic Outpost, Universal has trademarked a new video game entitled Jurassic World Aftermath, which appears very similar to the trademark for Survivor.

The trademark for Aftermath was filed on April 14th, along with a website registration. There’s no word on who’s exactly developing this title (the original developer for Survivor, Cryptic Studios Seattle, no longer exists), or if they’re going to be reworking whatever was developed for Survivor. The trademark makes mention of both mobile and console-based media, but that’s just the standard “covering your bases”.

Crysis Remastered has been revealed, and is "coming soon" to PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.

At time of writing, heading to the Crysis website's Cookie Policy page will show the Crysis Remastered logo - clicking on that logo leads you to the new website, with new artwork to go with it:

The website blurb reads: "Crytek’s ground-breaking, critically acclaimed first person shooter is back! Crysis Remastered is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch – the game's debut on a Nintendo platform."

Crytek has yet to officially announce the game, but we can assume that will follow shortly. No release date is given, beyond saying it's "coming soon".

The ESRB has announced a new ratings label for games with loot boxes and other randomized in-game purchases.

The ESRB created an "In-Game Purchases" rating label for games back in 2018 as a response to the loot box discourse that reached different state governments in the United States and elsewhere in the world like Belgium, and now the company has created a new label for random items. The label will still feature "In-Game Purchases" but now the label will say, "In-Game Purchases (Includes Random Items)."

"This new Interactive Element, In-Game Purchases (Includes Random Items), will be assigned to any game that contains in-game offers to purchase digital goods or premiums with real world currency (or with virtual coins or other forms of in-game currency that can be purchases with real world currency) for which the player doesn't know prior to purchase the specific digital goods or premiums they will be receiving (e.g., loot boxes, item packs, mystery awards)," the ESRB said in their announcement.

This new signage will be attached to any game that includes loot boxes, gacha games, item or card packs, prize wheels, treasure chests, and more, according to the ESRB. If a game has in-game purchases but no random items to be purchased, the game will receive only the "In-Game Purchases" rating.

This new rating comes by way of requests to the ESRB, the organization said.

"Since adding the In-Game Purchases notice to ratings assigned to physical games, many game consumers and enthusiasts (not necessarily parents) have reached out to us asking the ESRB to include additional information to identify games that include randomized purchases," the ESRB said. "The In-Game Purchases (Includes Random Items) Interactive Element was developed in response to those requests."

The ESRB explained why it's not specifically using the words "Loot Boxes," which are words the gaming community as a whole typically use when referring to randomized in-game purchases. According to the ESRB, the organization wanted to ensure that the label covers all transactions with randomized elements — not just loot boxes. It also said that research shows that less than a third of parents have both heard the term "loot box" and understand what that term means.

"'Loot box' is a widely understood phrase in and around the video game industry and among dedicated gamers, but most people less familiar with games do not understand it," the ESRB said. "While the new label is primarily in response to feedback from game enthusiasts, it is still essential that all consumers, especially parents, have a clear understanding of the rating information we provide."

2K has announced a brand new XCOM game. Titled XCOM: Chimera Squad, this brand-new standalone title is set five years after the events of XCOM 2

XCOM: Chimera Squad features an all-new story set in the XCOM universe. Although it is set five years after the events of XCOM 2, Firaxis says Chimera Squad is “neither a sequel nor expansion.”

Here’s a synopsis of the plot according to a press release sent by 2K.

“Set five years after the events of XCOM 2, humans, hybrids and aliens are now working together to forge a civilization of cooperation and co-existence. However, not all of Earth’s inhabitants support the interspecies alliance. City 31, a model of peace in a post-invasion world, is opposed by mysterious groups whose agendas threaten to shatter this delicate interspecies alliance. Chimera Squad, an elite force of human, hybrid, and alien agents, must work together to destroy the underground threats driving the city towards chaos.”

Some of the new features in Chimera Squad include unique Alien and Human agents with distinct personalities and abilities, including species-specific attacks. There’s also a new Breach Mode that adds a new combat phase focused on coordinating assaults across different entry points.

XCOM: Chimera Squad will be released digitally on PC via Steam on April 24. For a limited time, the introductory price for Chimera Squad will be set at $9.99 before it increases to $19.99 on May 1.

A rumored datamine alludes to a 'Pokemon Pink', which may have been planned as a companion piece to the 1998's Pikachu-focused Gen 1 spin-off, Pokemon Yellow.
The news arrives thanks to Pokemon Historian Dr. Lava, based on information posted in an archived thread on 4chan. Dr. Lava, who has documented a number of Pokemon leaks and datamines, called the information "almost certainly legit". On ResetEra, you can see a screenshot of the alleged leaked source code, with the header referencing a Pink and a Yellow version of the game.

It's thought that the information arrives from the same person or group that leaked the Spaceworld demo ROM (a prototype of Pokemon Gold and Silver) and a series of beta Pocket Monsters that were circulated back in 2018.

The Pokemon community has surmised that a Pokemon Pink would likely have featured Clefairy or Jigglypuff in the spotlight instead of Pikachu - Clefairy having been mooted as a potential mascot for the series before Pikachu's popularity, and Jigglypuff becoming popular due to the Pokemon anime.

Twitter user SnorlaxMonster noted in a reply to the original tweet that a Japan-Only Game Boy Camera frame once featured Pikachu and Clefairy standing side by side, but this was changed into a Wario Land design for the European release of the peripheral.

Xenon Racer isn't that good, I bought it when it was on sale a while back and the controls are just horrendous. Should have gotten Gear Club.

  7. Ive been watching a little bit of this on various Twitch streams and noticed it looks exactly like Counterstrike but with a different coat of paint. Anyone else agree?
