Would you rather live without the internet or live without AC and heating?

Recommended Posts

Considering I was homeless for 3 years and grew up bottom of the barrel poor, I could easily live without heat & AC. The internet didn't even exist when I was growing up, and was something only institutions could afford when it first started. Which means until I was about 14-15 I never had it. So I could probably go without it again if I had to.

But to choose, I would give up the heat and AC. The internet is such a huge part of life now, that it's almost unreasonable for anyone to go without it. EVERYTHING is done online. Not just entertainment, but all forms of business. Unless you're a low level employee, your job directly requires internet. Often it goes home with you, so you need it there.

What ever you customer/client is, they have gotten to where they expect shit instantly now, so no business could survive without the internet. As sad as it is, it's become a requirement of daily life just to survive.

This question is soooo true. And so the answer is also true to life with most people have and or do in fact. Would rather live with internet and live without AC/heating is the answer for me, point is that I do not have AC anyway and heating is on in winter however it's still COLD

For some reason I was totally reading this question wrong, and it took me forever to realize it lol.  I was thinking like, "if you could see either the internet, or AC and Heating, wiped from the face of the earth, which would you prefer."  I don't have a strong personal attachment to the internet, whereas I definitely do with AC and Heating.  I'd like to think a person could get by without the internet, but I'm honestly not sure.  I mean like, I'm unemployed right now.  How could I go about applying for jobs if I didn't have the internet?  The shit's all online now.  I'm pretty sure my local library wouldn't let me spend hours every day browsing the internet on one of their PCs.

The libraries here only allow 2 hours per day on their computers. I spend a minimum of 6 on mine. Also they have blocking programs in place which really fucks some things. There was a kid a couple years ago that was doing a report on breast cancer and was at the library researching it. She tried o the computer to look it up but since the word "breast" was in her search it was blocked. The librarian booted her out of the library for "searching pornography". Her parents filed suit, the librarian lost her job and her certification. Now if you tell them what you're searching and why, they'll open up the search restrictions on the computer you're at. Hell even looking for the best ways to prepare a chicken breast for dinner is blocked.

As a matter of fact, I could do without the AC right now, it's just that my place would be really hot lol.

It's okay - a lot of us misread things all the time.

Without the internet. As long as I have my landline that works. We live rural so while I can do without the internet, I DO need a way to get in touch with people in an emergency.

If the internet wasn't such a vital tool in my life, I'd also do without it but it's my main revenue source so I need it.

If it wasn't so vital in general these days, I would easily give up the internet. But it's one of the most crucial things in today's society.

So true - At least, I'd readily give up social media. It has to be the single most degenerative thing the internet has brought about.
