Konami officially ruins PES by making it F2P

Recommended Posts

I've stopped playing PES since they made the change to Efootball where every season you have to buy a $40 season pass for update team sheets and game modes and the previous years purchases are null and void. I keep calling EA and Ubisoft the worst but Konami has always been way out in front of everyone else. As a PES fan, I'm so disappointed. How do you feel about this?

Everything can be used to make money. Sadly those years passed when you bought full time games which was finished and only few patch needed to fix them. Nowaday the cashgrab is much higher and basic features also set up to make money. The whole economy and business is gross. It's time to stop.

Not sure what they are up to, to be honest. That roadmap does not look that great either because the game at launch is going to be extremely boring. It's a shame because the only way EA will do a better job with FIFA is if they have competition and this will not do that.

Seriously - A lot of people are really freaking out and frustrated by this decision. Don't be surprised if it affects their size of players getting into the game.

I am PES lover too, but more addicted to loving FIFA series more. I'll simply say the new law of updating the team sheet, squad list and xD with yearly up front fee of $40 isn't worth it for me. It could've been the old system, if you love to upgrade you can do it or leave it, by continuing the old version till ages.

This is a classic cashgrab by Konami which has been a gambling company for some years now. They've stopped making videogames and concentrated on Slot Machines until the pandemic forced them back into gaming.

I'm not surprised by this.  Fuckonami have obviously been watching what EA have been doing with FIFA and their ultimate team casino and just decided to make that the focus.

I'd argue that Konami is the worst of the worst because they turned their best games into slot machines and it was the pandemic which put a complete halt to that project. I sincerely hope Konami goes bankrupt soon and disappear because they the epitome of what is wrong with the gaming industry.

It was such a big shame getting to see Konami take such path with their gaming policy in ruining their big reputation.

Konami got it wrong, not everyone can afford to give out $40 easily just for upgrade of new edition of features. Their are people who are stuck with old games, and they are simply happy playing it, renewing at that time isn't on their plans. But with this new rule it means they'll continually spend money yearly to maintain the game, which is very much disappointing.

Their greed is what ruined them and they'll eventually go bankrupt and I'm glad.

I'm pissed about this whole thing - it's such a stupid decision that I still can't comprehend how they thought this would benefit them in the long-term.

Some call it selfishness from Konami, they considered money first before long term success. This kind of scenario can rip them off, already lots of Konami PES lovers have started to drop down after getting this surprise announcement earlier.

It's actually a very good lesson to other game companies who care to look and learn, otherwise they will still fall into the same pit of hell...(Shouting out EA and Ubisoft)

Myself included - PES is dead to me as of now. They constantly shoot themselves in the foot and then wonder why gamers react with disgust to their methods.

Exactly - it's actually why FIFA doesn't have any kind of serious competition right now with PES out of the way.

PES was a pretty good competitor and pushed EA to at least make some changes but they'll definitely be more lax about adding more features now...
