Moments in games when you don't know whether to laugh or cry

Recommended Posts

What are some moments in games where  you can’t decide whether you are moved, or can’t stop laughing?

My example is when Leliana sings in Dragon Age: Origins. The song is beautiful and the moment is unexpected and lovely—but the animation is SO bad and awkward, lol.

When something completely crazy and unexpected causes you to fail, that seemingly defies the game's own established rules. Like multiple over ninety percent certain shots missing in a row in xcom. Or, when an RPG says your attack is expected to do 100% damage to the selected enemy, yet it still takes 5 or more hits to take it down. These instances cause me to laugh frantically or cry out in utter frustration often at the same time.

But the same effect can be achieved when the story takes a completely daft turn, like someone taking an action completely out of character.

The first brutal beating that I got from Dark Souls on my first play of it left me in two delimma state, not knowing to cry or smile, be happy or sad.

xD, they hit black and blue in the game?

that's one of the first experience as a gamer playing a particular game for the first time having less experience about the game.

There is no way you would find any kind of joy with such experience. You wouldn't be able to let go of the anguish.

The joy at first time wouldn't be found, because you're simply learning to master the game. So, it will be filled with pressure towards learning.

Seriously, no one ever enjoys their very first experience with playing Dark Souls series. It might get a little better when playing Dark Souls 2 but the first one is always a hell.

I had it to the best of my fill playing Dark Souls at first. I'm not sure if any other games would ever treat me like such and get away with it.

It's always challenging at first, yes it's going to be thrilling as well but the frustration it comes with is on a whole different level.
