Confederate Monuments

These monuments have cost 40 million over the decade to taxpayers.  Why should taxpayers have to front the bill when it could go toward basically anything else?

However, supporters claim those who oppose them are anti-free speech crybabies.  Nonetheless, though, I'm not arguing that people can't do what they want with "private money".  However, why, with public funds, should slavery be glorified with the pro-Confederate crowd always wanting to sanitize the Civil War, simply saying it was a libertarian revolution similar to the one in 1776?

Anyway, removing the statutes also has cost millions.  Is that price worth it?    What might be done to lower costs to taxpayers?
