Will Neymar Jr ever lay his hands on the balloon d'or trophy anytime soon?

Ney knows it, assumed he stayed put with Barcelona around teammates like Suarez, Messi, he could've still won the UCL, which maybe, the balloon d'or could've followed suit. Let's hope he continues on his current good form until the season ends, he could win the balloon d'or.

Neymar is currently working on getting back in shape and from more recent performance there are actually signs of improvement.

I believe the player know the implications and have decided to work on himself and hopefully win the ballon d'or award.

He knows that if he doesn't work extremely hard, he'll lose his standard and he'll lose his market value and position as one of the best players in the world today.

Until PSG win the Champions League which is never, he'll never be put in the same category as Lewandoski, Suarez, Benzema and other world class players of the past 10 years.

Neymar Jr is up in the level of those players man. Neymar have came third best player in the world two times in his career. But Benzema is coming into the fold once in his lifetime and the only one he came through into final three, he's the clear favourite to win it. That doesn't mean, Benzema is better than Neymar Jr when it comes to accolades and overall performance.
