I've never known anyone personally, but I have seen the effects of gambling addiction. Loss of job, house, cars, and more important, family. People who can't control their addiction and get help for it often lose everything.

Like any addiction, it can easily destroy you. I had a massive drug problem when I was younger, but I was lucky enough to beat it. I've now been clean for 18 years, but it's a never ending battle to keep from falling back into it. When you have heavy stress you think things like "A little bit of blow would settle me down". There's no such thing as "a little bit of blow". Do it once and you're back in.

@Rain Dew has said that if I do fall back in she would do what she had to to get me help. But if I refused, or kept using in secret, she would leave me. So I fight myself to keep from going back. I have a medical marijuana card, so that helps if I feel that I absolutely have to get stoned.

Drug addiction is especially bad. I've got a neighbor who went to prison three times, lost custody of his kids, was under house arrest, and lives with his parents because he can't afford a apartment. It's quite tragic how little help drug addicts truly get.

I have an addiction to pornography, I won't lie. It's certainly not the healthiest "hobby" to get into, but I was hooked from young, so it's a hard habit to kick, especially if you're single.

I've heard that certain people tend to get more addicted easily depending on their genes, and whether their parents had an addiction problem or not. My dad was a heavy smoker for a long time before he eventually quit, so I don't know if that counts. I heard people with anxiety or OCD issues tend to get hooked more easily too because of their lack of impulse control, and I certain have my share of anxiety disorder.

The age old question is when are you addicted to something like really guessing this is for each person a different answer. Some friends called me out that my alcohol comsumption is problematic and that i drink too much alcohol then is good for me, but on the other hand they are offended when i turn down an alcoholic drink when they offer me one. So i don't know i can easily turn down alcohol when needed especially when i'm driving i take my responsibility but yeah in the evening when i'm home alone i dare to drink a couple of strong beers or down a bottle of wine to relax sometimes on a daily basis,  it does not effect my life and you know it helps me relax and relief stress whilest a videogame or reading the paper for example.

What makes you think your addicted to pornography? do you watch it daily, multiple times a day? I feel like aslong you can actknowledge the difference between what real sex is as in what normal people do vs what you see in "adult" movies i don't really see the problem, but if you are expecting that every woman will do a threesome, glady take a facial or will take a **** up her ass then i'd say it's  a problem. Needless to say that kinda attitude is disrespectful towards women.

Not judging you at all man, if you want to talk about it wheter on the board or if your rather want to talk in person send me a pm, maybe it will help to talk about because it's not an easy subject to admit that is problematic for a person.

Well, I wouldn't say daily, but pretty often, the urge to just rub one out just comes and before I know it, I'm surfing porn again. There's definitely an addiction factor at play there because I couldn't get enough of the high that comes from masturbating to porn. It's not a daily addiction, thankfully, but it comes and goes.

No matter what one's addicted to, it's never good because such addiction is capable of ruining the person in any way possible. I have been battling with one addiction and it's to alcoholic beverages. I have been battling it for years now and sometimes I would be clean for a while and I would still fall back in it. It's not been easy.

Alcoholism tends to run in my family, so I'm predisposed to it. My parents were both heavy chain smokers. The instant they put one out, they lit up another one. Even when pregnant with me, my mother didn't quit or even slow down. The damage it did to me while I was in utero is pretty obvious to those that know me in person.

I understand your compulsion. Many men I have known had addiction to pornography. I don't really get it myself, but that doesn't negate the fact that it's a real addiction. That's why there's sex addict support groups, the same as there is AA and NA.

Cigarettes smoking can get very nasty when one's addicted to it. I have a friend who smokes more than 3 packs of cigarettes in a day. He smoked virtually everywhere. He stopped going to church because he can't see out a service without having to smoke. It's been very challenging for him to deal with.

I am happy to have part ways with the word "addiction". In the past, I was so addicted with sports betting, which made me to forget about savings. All my funds went into gambling between 2016 - 2018. I stopped gambling massively when I lost all savings that took me six months within few minutes of virtual betting.
