New Steam Game Costs $2,000 and is Not Even 2 Hours Long

Well it would be bad enough if this were just paying $2000 US for some AI generated art and some imbecilic transphobic ranting, but I'm sorry that the rabbit hole goes even deeper.   Seriously prepare yourself.

I first leaned about this from a video by PyroLIVE but I did go to the source to verify it for myself and you probably will too because this is simply beyond belief.

The "developer" of this game, ProX, has a website and on this website there are links to affiliated social media including a Patreon.  Now there's nothing wrong or unusual about any of that, until you see the support tiers.   I'm including a link for illustrative purposes but if the mods feel like it should be removed I'm ok with that, DO NOT SUPPORT THIS GUY!

You'll notice the first 3 tiers and there's nothing really unusual aside from them being a bit on the pricy side for what's basically just Discord roles.  However there is a forth tier that can only be seen by clicking the "See All 4 Levels" button below...  Brace yourselves.

Your eyes are not deceiving you, your not counting the number of digits wrong and that amount is not in Vietnamese dongs.  This screwball is actually trying to screw someone out of £14 million plus VAT a month.  In the UK VAT is 20%, so going by that figure that puts the cost of a "Loyal Supporter" (understatement of the fucking age) in USD dollars at $2,087,532.50 A MONTH!!!!!!!  What do get for this?

A "free" copy of the game.  Fuck.... me!

Correction, £1.4 million not 14 obviously, not that it matters that much.

I just saw PyroLIVE's vid myself and was about post this insanity, but obviously you got in thier before me. And no, I won't delete the link to his patreon because I think this has to be seen to believed. It's difficult to even know what to say. This guy is clearly hoping that just one idiot with far more money than they deserve sets him up for life. The delusionary greed on display here is beyond any thing ever imagines. I remember in the TV show iZombie (Would recommend, by the way to anyone who hasn't seen it) one of the main villains Blane cons his top 1% clientele out of $25,000 a month for the brains they needed to survive and could do so because he held a total monopoly, but man even he has nothing on this guy when it comes to sheer ambition! And this is real life! And He's charging almost £1.5 million a month for nothing more than access to one of the worst games ever made and some pointless Discord role! This is amazing, it really is.

I really wonder if Steam is going to take this game down. It doesn't even resemble a game at this point. It kinda reminds me how people throw up those gofundme's or kickstarter campaigns to make money for dumb reasons. This feels much like that, in that this guy made a shit game, and raised the price by a ton in the hopes someone dumb enough would waste money on it.

All he needs is one guy to pay $2000 and he could peace out. Maybe that's all he was hoping to get, but if anything I imagine a $1 priced game would sell more and possibly make him more than $2000.

Before I go any further, massive credit to steam user and YouTube video game reviewer Matthew Werner for both his steam review;

And this YouTube video to show this game, and it's worse than any of us could have imagined.

Why is it so so terrible? The text is grammatically flawed, the artist behind the images was paid in bandwidth and the writing is from the mind of an immature MAGA prat who obviously hates games like Tell Me Why, Life is Strange and The Last of Us Part II for all the wrong reasons. I'm not going to go any further, the video speaks for itself, but man is this bad.

It's clear now what the true goal this very strange individual, who will never have sex with a woman ever in his life, had behind creating this so-called "game". That being publish his bizarre transphobic conspiracy ideas because they would never get published in anything respectable. I do actually admire his ingenuity, it is getting more attention that it otherwise would have, but he's going to learn the hard way the idea that "any publicity is good publicity" is a myth.

Yikes, this guy sounds like a tool. And the game looks like just a run of the mill visual novel that anyone could make these days. But yeah, this guy was obviously trying to get publicity and a quick buck before this eventually gets taken down. Because lets face it, once Steam gets an idea of this, which they may have already, they should be removing this game soon. Or at least I would expect them to do so.

Sorry to say it, but you have way too much faith in Steam. Quality control means absolutely noting to them. Games like this or worse get approved for sale on Steam all the time.

It's unlikely Steam will take this down and to be honest, I don't think they should.  Like it or not it's an open platform, he is entitled to free speech and charging $2000 isn't breaking any rules.  I agree that he is a tool but it doesn't matter but unless it can be proved he is doing something legitimately fraudulent or the content is directed hate speech (which based on what I've seen really just implied) then it's allowed on Steam.  If they removed this then under the same precedent any game featuring a trans character could be removed as well because "it insult's certain religions" or whatever.  I don't like it but it is the truth.

Maybe it was Sony I was thinking of, because I remember some marketplace, blocked sale of a new game that was poorly made. It was a game where you played as an animal I think, like a Lion. I don't remember, but Sony was getting heat for allowing this dev to sell games, and at some point they flat out removed their games from their marketplace.

That's fair. I thought Steam used to monitor the games that were released on their platform. Did they recently change it to where they can allow just about any game to be listed?

Actually, that may have been part of the point. To just be ridiculous so that they can cry victim for being banned from a gaming store, send the info to their terrorist news, and hope some rich fascist will spend money on the grifting, then blame video games are this..and that...and blah blah blah. That's how those fucks are.

For Sony it's a bit of a different story since PSN is NOT an open platform.  Plenty of shit does still make it through to PSN but Sony can say no.

Pretty much yes.  I think it was a few years ago there was a big controversy about a bunch of Henti VN porn games being censored or banned on Steam, but since it's an open platform they were called out and then started allowing them again.  Since then just about about anything that's not considered illegal is allowed on Steam.

I believe you're referring to the PS4 game called Life of Black Tiger, an infamously bad game from 2017 that PlayStation not only allowed on thier store, but actually promoted on thier official YouTube channel. The proof is below

Wanna know how infamous this game is? Check out some of these major youtubers covering the game below.

Yup, that's the one I was thinking of. I think the next game that studio made was eventually taken down by Sony, and I think they're starting to take these types of games off, or they're not going to promote them anymore without first looking into it. Crazy that it even got a trailer on Sony's channel. This was literally a nothing game. I still don't get how Sony was dumb enough to promote it.

It just means that Sony's vetting process for games published on their platform is flawed or was flawed at the time. Did Sony ever detail how their system would be better at detecting things like this?
