Sports Games

Recommended Posts

I like sports games.  In fact, I have liked nearly all I have played.  So are they any sports games you haven't played?  I've tried hockey, soccer, basketball, baseball, and American Football.

I played a lot of sports games before. Actually, only basketball ones but I have tried NBA 2K10, 2K11, 2K12 and 2K17. They seems to be all the same just with different graphics. I really had fun playing them all the day long back in the time. Anyway, NBA 2K19 should be released this year and I might take a look at it.

Since I am not a fan of sports in real life, sports games are my least favorite. The only game that I like that could be considered a sports game is Gallop Racer 2003, a horse racing game. I enjoy it because of the mechanics and complexity of it, not because of the sports aspect.

Personally I enjoy playing sport games more than playing sports in real life. I've tried basketball, soccer and football. I'm still trying to get a better hang of it but regardless of how bad I am at it I enjoy it.

I've enjoyed the NBA Live series since the first one I played in 2003. The series has a good mix of simulation and "gamey-ness," imo. It's main competition, NBA 2K, felt like too much like a simulation and I didn't like it very much. I've also found the Mario sports titles to be really solid, my favourite of those being Mario Strikers: Charged Football on the Wii.

I haven't played many of sports games casually but my old employer specialised in making them, so I worked on rugby and cricket games while I was there. I learnt a lot about sports games and the sports themselves in the process, which I found valuable and found some new hobbies in the process.

I play a lot of sports games.  And have played them for almost every sport.  I buy Madden and 2k annually.  Fifa every other year.  And play The Show and Hockey games a lot although I tend to stick with one version for a few years before upgrading.  Baseball rosters just don't change that much to make it worth it and I play mostly my career mode anyway.  What I really miss is a good Tennis and Golf game.  I loved Tiger Woods, especially 2012, and played it a lot.  But Rory McIlroy was a disappointing experience and I believe that is still the only option for current gen.  That tennis game they just released (I forget the name) just looks bad, and they never get enough real players and courses.  I know Golf and Tennis are tough for developers because you have to license everyone individually as their is no governing body that holds rights to all of them like you have with NBA, NFL, MLB, etc.   This gets expensive, also all the events like Wimbledon, French Open for Tennis or courses like Augusta for Golf have to also be licensed individually. Disappointing but I don't see that situation changing for those sports anytime soon.

I like playing sports video games and doing them in real life.  Nonetheless, I cannot stand watching sports and I'm normally not good at sports - either online or off.  Basically, I'm more into playing music.

Anyway, I do love jogging, but that's not really a sport unless you do marathons.

I'm not really sure if I had enjoyed ice hockey games or not.  They do seem too fast, but it seems like I enjoyed them.  Anyway, in real life, I love floor hockey.  Cannot play real ice hockey due to my southern USA location.

I really like playing golf games. E.g. Everybody's Golf, The Golf Club and Wii Sports' Golf are all faves of mine. Actually, I think Wii Sports is *the* definitive sports game. Great stuff.

I used to also play a lot of Pro Evo Soccer and FIFA in university but I don't play them much anymore.
