Has a PC game ever blew up your PC?

Recommended Posts

I used to have a PC that had really bad overheating issues. Whenever I opened games, I would either get bluescreens or horrendous lag. Since money was tight at the time, I took the side off the PC and put a box fan next to it to blow air into the case and cool it so that I could play games without the overheating issue, at least temporarily.

Disclaimer: Don't do this. ;)

@HolisticStorm I do not blame you, you have to do whatever it takes to keep your gear going and also to able to do what you want to do. Crazy. I'm lucky to have a good cooling system on my desktop to keep it 30c on idle on a very hot warm day.

Worse that I seen that my mate who is a police officer when he was younger he had a over heating laptop and he cools it down by puttting it in the freezer

Another thing that didn't happen to me was the cooling fan for the CPU coming loose then the CPU dying. It obviously didn't explode... this other person's computer, but it was still annoying as hell...  for this person...that wasn't me.

The point is a computer won't explode if it's pushed to hard, it'll just shut down. There's too many failsafes in things these days for something electrical blowing up to be realistically possible.

Exactly, if the PC blowing up isn't self induced by someone, it's highly impossible for something like that to happen. If the system shutdown down in a normal way, then it's not even a serious issue as it's supposed to just trip off automatically.
