The Retail Boxes For The New Call Of Duty Are Seriously Confusing

Recommended Posts

Well, if it wasn't bad enough that consumers are confusing the Xbox One X for the Series X, the new game boxes may still cause more confusion. Tell me which one is the Xbox Series X and the Xbox One version?

These game covers are going to cause some confusion. Here is what you're expected to get with each version.

I'm giving up on Xbox. They want everything to be so close in name to keep consumers confused. If you're not a hardcore gamer, like all of us here, or at least in the business, you're probably fucked at figuring out the difference, aside from noticing the physical shape of each system. At least Sony and Nintendo named their systems uniquely, and/or in numeric succession, so that consumers would know what the hell they're getting.

They definitely need to do more to distinguish the two, maybe have black headers and footers on the Series X version instead of green or at the very least have it  say "Series X" on the end label instead of just on the inside front corner.  This is a truly ridiculous situation where you have to carefully scan over the box art just to know what platform it's for.

They could have easily changed the case design a bit. Why not make it look like the series X logo, so an all black case with their logo? I think that would be dope and would match the new console. It would at least curb the confusion amongst consumers.

A big chunk of console buyers are parents who know nothing of the systems themselves. This will produce a right mess, and a lot of disappointed children at christmas who get the wrong console / game.

True, but a lot of those parents grew up with video games, and even they are going to get confused by this. Plus, you gotta think of the grandparents too, because they're not going to know what the difference is.

One way to solve this, is to put a cardboard sleeve over one of the versions. Maybe for the Xbox Series X version just to differentiate between the two.
