Gearbox Plans to End the Borderlands 3 Vault Insider Program

Prior to the launch of Borderlands 3 last year, Gearbox launched the “Vault Insider Program,” which allowed fans to earn in-game rewards by engaging with promotional content like trailers. Since then, the Borderlands 3 Vault Insider Program has continued to offer players a way to get extra loot and rewards. However, Gearbox has now announced that they plan to discontinue the program on the 18th of May.

The End of the Borderlands 3 Vault Insider Program

“The Vault Insider Program focused on rewarding you for activities you could do pre-launch,” explains Gearbox; “like watching trailers and engaging with social content. Now that we’re well past launch, we want those kinds of rewards to be available to as many players and fans as possible, and ensure you’re rewarded simply for playing the game itself.”

Borderlands 3 Vault Insider Program to Shut Down 2

As such, the Borderlands 3 Vault Insider Program will shut down at 11:59 AM PDT on the 18th of May, later this year. At that moment, all VIP profiles will be disabled, while any VIP points left un-redeemed will be forfeit. However, so long as you’ve already redeemed any in-game items and rewards before that time, you won’t lose anything of that sort. As it heads towards irrelevance, Gearbox won’t be offering any new rewards via the Program between now and the shutdown.

For now, fans are still able to create new VIP profiles, earn VIP points, and redeem rewards. As such, if you haven’t engaged with the Vault Insider Program yet, then you do still have a window in which to get your hands on VIP rewards. Finally, as a thank you to the fan community who supported the Program, Gearbox has released a special SHiFT code for 10 Golden Keys. This limited-time code will be usable until 11:59 PM PDT on the 3rd of March. You can redeem the code as normal, either in-game or via the SHiFT website. The code is: C3C3B-BB9SS-FTKHK-ZTWTB-99CRX.
