Did you know that there is now a new option for purchasing a PlayStation console, hardware, or games? Alongside the existing PlayStation Store, Sony now is operating a new store. You can now purchase your PlayStation from PlayStation itself. Don’t worry—we’ll explain what this confusing concept is all about below.
The New Way to Buy a PlayStation
The official PlayStation account on Twitter posted the following tweet:
The text reads, “Starting today, you can buy PS4 consoles, accessories, and games directly from PlayStation. Full details: http://play.st/2l4i2Wx.”
That link leads to a PlayStation blog entry titled, “Purchase PS4 Consoles, Accessories, Games Directly from PlayStation Starting Today.” It also includes the caption, “Buy a new PlayStation … from PlayStation!”
The blog explains, “Integrated within the PlayStation.com website, you can now easily navigate from hardware and game product information pages directly to purchasing these PlayStation products from our store, ranging from PS4, PS4 Pro and PS VR systems and bundles, as well as headsets, DualShock 4 Wireless Controllers, PS VR accessories, a selection of physical games, and voucher codes for PS Plus subscriptions.”
You will find the new store at https://direct.playstation.com/. Some of the physical games available to purchase include:
- Astro Bot: Rescue Mission
- Blood & Truth
- Bloodborne
- Days Gone
- God of War 3 Remastered
- Horizon Zero Dawn
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition
- MLB The Show 19
- Quantic Dream Collection
- Ratchet & Clank
- The Last of Us Remastered
- Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
But, we can probably expect this list to become significantly longer in the near future as Sony finds time to stock more titles.
You can also take advantage of the limited time launch promotion which runs until October 31st, 2019. There are two bundles discounted through the promotion:
- PlayStation 4 + a 12-month subscription of PS Plus for $339.99 USD (regularly $359.98 USD)
- PlayStation 4 Pro + a 12-month subscription of PS Plus for $429.99 USD (regularly $459.98 USD)
