Giannis Antetokounmpo Returns With New NBA 2K19 Throwback Playoff Moments Card

Some gaming fans feel that the 2019 NBA MVP was disrespected when he didn’t receive the top rating in NBA 2K20. There’s plenty of time for that to change in the upcoming season. In the meantime, Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is back with a special NBA 2K19 Throwback Playoff Moments card, available in packs. It comes as the NBA 2K world is shifting its attention towards the arrival of NBA 2K20, after recent player ratings reveals and teaser videos.

Giannis Antetokounmpo gets new Throwback Playoff Moments card in NBA 2K19

“The Greek Freak” bowed out early in the NBA postseason, as his Milwaukee Bucks ultimately fell to Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors. However, Giannis rose above the rest of the competition to earn Most Valuable Player. He led Milwaukee to the No. 1 overall seed in the Eastern Conference, surprising many fans. He’ll only get better and that’s a scary concept for all opponents.

Giannis has appeared in the playoffs in four of his six seasons. In the most recent, he averaged 25.5 points, 12.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists, two blocks, and just over one steal per game. He had more than a few moments including a 41-point game against the Pistons on April 22 and a 23-rebounds game against Toronto. He now has a new Galaxy Opal card to possibly pull from the Throwback Playoff Moments packs.

Along with the Giannis Antetokounmpo card comes two other brand new GO throwbacks. As seen above, there’s former Atlanta Hawks All-Star Dominique Wilkins and Cleveland Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Three stars with mighty contributions during their playoff histories. All three cards are now available in the NBA 2K19 Packs.

A single pack of five cards costs 7,500 Virtual Currency (VC) or 10,500 MyTeam Tokens. For 67,500 VC gamers can get 10 Throwback Playoffs Moments packs. A total of 135,000 VC will buy 20 packs with more opportunities to pull those Galaxy Opals.

The cards are available in packs for just a week, so they won’t be there in the first week of August. There’s also the possibility to acquire the cards through the NBA 2K19 Auction House, if you’re willing to spend the right amount of MyTeam Tokens for a Giannis Antetokounmpo.

There probably aren’t too many fans still participating in NBA 2K19 MyTeam, as most are awaiting news of 2K20’s features. In recent days we’ve seen a new teaser video featuring Zion Williamson and news about MyGM/MyLeague mode. That still leaves gameplay videos along with Park and Career mode reveals.

We’ll keep bringing the latest NBA 2K news so stay tuned for updates about the 2K20 game!
