God of War Players Use Collector’s Edition to Unearth A Secret Weapon

A group of enterprising players have uncovered one of God of War’s secret weapons through a rather unconventional method. The secret might have stayed hidden indefinitely, in fact, were it not for one thing; the items that were included with the game’s Stone Mason Edition.

The expensive collector’s edition shipped with a number of extras included alongside the game. Chief among them in this case was a cloth map, complete with runic lettering. That lettering, as it turns out, was more than mere Nordic decoration. A video was posted by a Brazilian YouTuber who goes by ‘BRKsEDU,’ who had managed to translate the Nordic runes into English, whereupon other gamers on Reddit began to investigate.

The Translated Text

“The brilliant blacksmiths Brok and Sindri traveled all around the lands of Midgard to create this great map for the giantess Faye. A mysterious treasure was found at the space between them at the conclusion of their journey. Unfortunately for the brothers, the treasure’s location was instantly forgotten. Brok retraced his steps and blamed Sindri for losing the treasure. Sindri retraced his own steps but clearly knew it was Brok’s fault they could not find it. The treasure was never found and neither brother has spoken to the other since”

The Solution

Working from the text, gamers on Reddit were able to pinpoint the location of the treasure; a tower in Muspelheim. To find the treasure yourself, find the tower and the golden circle at the top. By standing on the circle and looking at certain spots in sequence, you can cause a rift to open in the air. Run up to it, and pull the treasure from inside. The secret treasure – a legendary axe pommel called “Forbidden Grip of the Ages.”

The impressive discovery did not go unnoticed. Word quickly spread through the online community. God of War’s creative director, Cory Barlog, even took to Twitter to congratulate the gamers responsible for solving the puzzle.
