Last month, Creative Assembly announced that they were bringing two of Warhammer’s most iconic characters to Total War: Warhammer 2; Gotrek and Felix. This pair first became available in September, but the only way to download them was via a code in that month’s issue of White Dwarf, Games Workshop’s Warhammer magazine. As of today, Gotrek and Felix are now freely available for players to download. However, players will need to go to Total War Access to do so.
How to Get Gotrek and Felix in Total War: Warhammer 2
The Gotrek and Felix DLC for Total War: Warhammer 2 is a bit unusual when it comes to how to acquire it. If you didn’t get the White Dwarf code last month, you can now download the pair for your game. However, you won’t be able to do so directly from Steam. Instead, you’ll need to log into Total War Access. If you don’t already have an account, making one is free. Creative Assembly uses Total War Access to occasionally release small pieces of content, mostly in the form of wallpapers or music tracks. However, on rare occasions they have used it for DLC. (They released a pack of extra Regiments of Renown for the first game in the series this way.)
Once you’ve downloaded Gotrek and Felix from Total War Access, they’ll be available to use in Total War: Warhammer 2. They can be recruited via a special quest marker so long as you’re playing as a Bretonnian, Dwarf, or Empire faction. Gotrek Gurnisson, voiced by Brian Blessed, is a unique Lord, while Felix is a Hero in his army. Together, the pair are rather fearsome duellists, capable of bringing down some of the most powerful warriors and monsters in the game.
However, their power does come with some drawbacks. Gotrek and Felix will only work for you for 20 turns. After that, they’ll leave your faction to journey elsewhere. However, after some time has elapsed in-game, they will return and you can recruit them once again. Each time they return in this fashion, they will have become stronger. Of course, both characters are also available to use in multiplayer.
