Transition From PS4 to PS5 to Be a “Gradual” One

Planning on buying a PlayStation 5 right away when the holiday release window rolls around? Depending on your motivation, you might want to hold off and wait for the price to come down. Because if your main goal is to start playing next gen games right away, you may actually be able to play them on your existing console. It turns out the PS4 to PS5 transition will be a gradual one.

What to Expect From the Gradual Transition From PS4 to PS5

Bloomberg writes, “Sony executives are voicing patience about the next console’s pricing as they anticipate the transition to be a gradual one, said people familiar with its day-to-day operations. Many of the games launched for the PlayStation 5 will also be available to play on the predecessor machine, so revenue from software and related network services is expected to keep the business performance intact.”

So, all the PS5 launch games you are looking forward to might be playable on your PS4. In that case, you might just want to hold off on upgrading. Then again, for all we know, those games will offer a much better experience on PS5 than they will on PS4.

Plus, there are other reasons to think about upgrading to the PS5 right away. The PS5’s powerful features should make for a superior gameplay experience all around. Plus, the PS5 is expected to be backwards compatible with the PS4. So, if you by any chance missed a generation and are still on PS3, getting a PS5 would open up a whole new world of PS4 and PS5 games for you.

There is sure to be more PlayStation news in the near future as we are getting ever closer to the eventual release of the PS5. Whatever rumors and updates show up, you’ll find them here when they do. So swing by if you haven’t lately and check out what’s new in the world of PlayStation.
