Granblue Fantasy Project Re: Link Delay Confirmed, Will Get More Info in December

Cygames announced at Granblue Summer Fest 2018 that the highly anticipated action JRPG Granblue Fantasy Project Re: Link has been delayed. No new release date was given, but the delay was all but confirmed in the fact that we won’t be getting new info regarding the game until this December. Fans will have to wait until Granblue Fes on December 15-16, 2018 for more news about the title.

Granblue Fantasy Project Re: Link was initially going to release this year but that seems to have changed. The game’s director Fukuhara Tetsuya revealed that plans for the game have become “much larger than before”, leading to the game needing more time for development. Presumably, the game won’t be coming this year anymore given that information isn’t coming until December.

Tetsuya noted that Granblue Fantasy Project Re: Link “is turning out to be something considerably amazing so that should make up for the wait.” If you aren’t aware, Re: Link is a console game from the Granblue franchise. The series began as a Japanese mobile game and has had considerable success as it has expanded beyond the mobile realm to anime and more.

The original mobile game reunited famed video game music composer Nobuo Uematsu and art director Hideo Minaba for the first time in several years. The duo is best known for working together on Final Fantasy V, VI, IX, and Lost Odyssey. Granblue Fantasy Project Re: Link is the PS4 adaptation of the series, featuring gorgeous graphics and rich gameplay.

Cygames isn’t leading development on Granblue Fantasy Project Re: Link, as it is actually being handled by Platinum Games. Platinum is best known for its hardcore action style in recent titles like NieR: Automata and the Bayonetta series.
