The Best Buy PS5 restock queue is similar to the Sony Direct restock queue. Both of them were designed to help solve the problem with bots and resellers snapping up consoles en masse within seconds of restocking.
You can think of the restock queue like standing in line, but virtually. You wait in the line for a chance to buy a console. When the site selects you, you can try and place an order. Resellers have to stand in the same virtual line you do.
How to Get Into a Best Buy PS5 Restock Queue
The restock queues begin automatically when Best Buy stocks PS5s. You can watch for updates on Twitter PS5 restock tracking accounts, or you can regularly check this page on Best Buy. If a queue is open, you will be able to click on the purchase link. Otherwise, it will say “Sold Out.”
When you attempt to add the item to your cart, you will see a message stating that you do not yet have the item in your cart, and that you are in the queue. You will need to wait until the add to cart button turns yellow. At that point, you can attempt to complete your purchase. If you are lucky, you will be able to buy the PS5. Sometimes, however, the button will turn yellow, and you will still fail to be able to get the PS5 to go in your cart. We suspect this is because the site allows more people into the queue than they can allocate PS5s for. But maybe we simply are not acting fast enough, and it is dropping us from the queue.
