Latest Destiny 2 Update Reworks Exotic Armor Pieces

Bungie has released a new update for Destiny 2 which brings the game up to version 1.2.1 and, among other things, kicks off the first round of sweeping changes being made to Exotic armor pieces.

When Destiny 2’s Warmind DLC launched earlier this month, it brought with it the beginning of the game’s third content season and a massive overhaul to the game’s existing Exotic weapons. Now, according to a recent Bungie blog post, the same treatment is being given to existing Exotic armor pieces, though the rollout of changes is coming out a little more slowly. For today’s update, six pieces of Exotic armor, two each for Destiny 2’s three core Guardian classes, have been reworked. The reworks are detailed below.

Titan

  • Synthoceps now grant a flat bonus to super and melee damage whenever you’re surrounded by three or more opponents in both PvE and PvP. The bonus also remains for a short duration once you’re no longer surrounded.
  • Lion Rampant now allows you to hipfire while lift is active without interrupting it, and you no longer incur an aerial accuracy penalty for shooting while airborne.

Hunter

  • Dodging while you have The Dragon’s Shadow equipped now reloads all your weapons simultaneously, and the effects of Wraithmetal Mail grant a bonus to mobility.
  • Switching to a sidearm while you have the Mechaneer’s Tricksleeves equipped and are critically wounded will greatly boost the weapon’s damage.

Warlock

  • The rifts created by Warlocks with Lunafaction Boots equipped now cause all allied players to reload their weapons automatically while standing in the rift instead of them having to move into or out of the rift first. Empowered rifts also extend the effective range of all weapons.
  • Sunbracers now increase the duration of Solar grenades and briefly grant unlimited Solar grenade energy upon a successful Solar melee kill.

More Exotic armor changes will be made in a future update that’s scheduled to deploy sometime in July. Today’s update also introduces the Crucible Labs feature that allows Destiny 2 players to test in-development PvP features.
