The Fortnite downtime started right after the live event, around 4:15 pm Eastern Time. The event ended with the island flipping and causing a massive flood that has left players in the middle of the ocean. Just like during the first chapter-ending event, players are stuck on a downtime screen for an extended period.
The first downtime between chapters ended in around 36 hours. This time, it might end in 18 hours as the latest leak claims it will return on December 5. The exact time of Chapter 3 start is 10 AM Eastern Time, which is very unusual. However, Epic Games has probably decided to change the update day, and we might start getting other updates on Sundays as well.
HYPEX, the most popular Fortnite leaker, claims that the downtime will end at 10 AM. Many other sources, including Xbox and PlayStation, state the same thing. It appears that Fortnite players will not have to wait for Tuesday to get the new chapter, which is amazing!
