Lego: Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Are Retired From Digital Stores

During the last few weeks of December, some players had the chance of acquiring LEGO: The Lord of the Rings and LEGO: The Hobbit for PC at no cost. However, it seems like this is the last time we’d see the games at all as they were pulled from Digital Stores. Unfortunately, any Lord of the Rings fans will have to get these titles in some other way.

The LEGO games were pulled from digital stores like Steam, PS Store, and the Xbox Store. According to Reddit user Supermoonky, neither game can be purchased anymore. Their commercial pages still exist. However, they come without any purchase option.

The LEGO Games Are no longer Available for Purchase

LEGO: Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit have disappeared from multiple storefronts, what happened?

It’s speculated that this event has something to do with expired licensing deals. LEGO: The Hobbit and LEGO: Lord of the Rings are based on movies, as such, they’re treated in different regard to other games like the Middle Earth series. It’s likely that WB Games lost their current licensing deal and will reinstate the games later. However, there hasn’t been any statement about whether or not the games will be available on another date.

Any users who currently own the games have nothing to worry about, either. The current event only affects users who wish to purchase the game through digital means. As such, any user who got the game in their digital libraries will be able to play it without issue.

What do you think about this problem? Do you think Digital Distribution will bring similar problems in the future? Were you going to purchase the LEGO games at some point? Let us know your thoughts in the VGR Forum.
