Life Is Strange 2 Episode 1 Release Date, Number of Total Episodes Announced

Life Is Strange 2 Episode 1 is officially happening and we have a release date for you. Publisher Square Enix announced in a press release this morning that the release date for the first episode is September 27th, 2018. The second season will be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One just like the original season that began in early 2015. We also now know how many episodes will make up the second season.

Life Is Strange 2 will have a grand total of five episodes to play through, just like the first season. Square Enix also released a short trailer that shows the release date on a tattered backpack and not much else. As of right now, we have little details on what exactly the second season will be about. However, we do know when we will know more details regarding the story-driven sequel.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit Life Is Strange 2 Episode 1

We will be getting more info regarding Life Is Strange 2 ahead of the episode one launch in August. Until then, players won’t have to wait very long to experience more of developer Dontnod Entertainment’s writing. Spin-off episode, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, will be releasing next week on June 26th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

This standalone episode featuring a kid with a superpowered imagination will tie directly into Life Is Strange 2 in some way. It is possible that the boy will be a major character in the main second season when it starts in September. Oh, did we mention that The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is a totally free episode on all three platforms? That’s right, you don’t have to spend a dime on it or the original Life Is Strange in order to play it next week.

Offering a free episode is a great way to get players interested in checking out Life Is Strange 2 later this year. Additionally, the entire first season has been available for free through PlayStation Plus so it is possible to catch up in time for season two without spending a penny on buying it. If you’re checking out Dontnod’s other game Vampyr, there is a nice Life Is Strange easter egg hidden in it.
