See the Live Recording of the Battlefield 5 Soundtrack

Battlefield 5 is due out for all players in just a few days, and is already available via early-access for some. While DICE hasn’t spoken much about the Battlefield 5 soundtrack, new footage suggests that it will easily match, or even exceed, the quality of the Battlefield 1 soundtrack. Ahead of the game’s launch, YouTuber Westie has released video footage taken during a live recording of the game’s music.

The Live Recording Footage of the Battlefield 5 Soundtrack

Westie has released a number of videos in conjunction with DICE, including for the new Boot Camp information resource website. This latest video features live footage from a visit by the YouTuber to London’s Abbey Road recording studio, where the Battlefield 5 soundtrack recording was taking place. Just over 12 minutes long, the video consists almost entirely of footage clips of a live orchestra performing the game’s impressive soundtrack.

“This is the making of the Battlefield 5 Soundtrack!” says Westie’s video description; “EA invited me to Abbey Road Studios in London back in June 2018, a month after reveal, to witness many of the parts being recorded that would eventually become the Battlefield 5 soundtrack and some of what I recorded is absolutely astounding!

Battlefield 5 Soundtrack Recorded by Westie

The Battlefield 5 soundtrack is fully orchestral and truly magnificent. Like the Battlefield 1 soundtrack before it, the music seems almost more befitting of a movie than a video game. Indeed, it’s an excellent example of the quality which many major large game development studios put into their soundtracks nowadays. Battlefield 1 was nominated for Best Music/Soundtrack in the Game Awards back in 2016. Ultimately, the winner of the award was Doom, however; another game with an excellent, though utterly different, soundtrack.

Even before release, Battlefield 5 has already won one award; the “Best Multiplayer Game” Award at Gamescom 2018, where it overcame Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Given the quality of the Battlefield 5 soundtrack; it wouldn’t be surprising to see it win awards in that area as well in the future.
