Madden 20 Superstar KO trailer, new mode details

EA rolled out a new title update for the Madden game on Tuesday (Sept. 3). Part of that update was to bring the new Madden 20 Superstar KO mode into the game. An official trailer arrived on various social media including Madden’s YouTube channel (below) to give an overview of the mode.

The new video trailer features stars from the gridiron and a number of other star celebrities. They include DJ Khaled and Lil Yachty amongst those presented in the YouTube video. It also shows off new team uniforms with a flashy style as players including Patrick Mahomes, Odell Beckham Jr., and others compete on the virtual field.

The brand new Madden 20 Superstar KO mode is presented in the trailer as the fastest co-op mode that will be available. We see hip-hop stars Lil Yachty and DJ Khaled as part of the game action, from the sidelines. Additionally, the trailer ends with a statement that it’s free to play this coming week. Starting on September 5 through September 8 there is a “Global Free Trial” going on.

EA’s Madden Twitter presented another image showing the key details about the Superstar KO mode.

More details about the brand new KO mode

In addition to the trailer and details image above, EA’s crew also unveiled a more in-depth Gridiron Notes here. Basically, Madden 20 Superstar KO is an online co-op eliminator mode. The developer says they were keeping it a secret for a while but wanted a quicker and more fun mode for fans to play in Madden 20. It brings Superstar X-Factors into the mix along with unique teams and custom rules.

There are eight different teams to choose from, some of which have special celebrity coaches like NFL Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith, Lil Yachty, or DJ Khaled. Current head coaches Andy Reid and Sean McVay are also coaching teams. Check out one of the screens below showing off the eight custom squads. These teams include NFL stars from the past and present as well as Superstar X-Factors to use.

In terms of rewards for this mode, they mostly point out “bragging rights” or gaining XP for your KO level. However, they also mention a special Ultimate Team reward every week. The developers also indicate that this first season of Madden 20 Superstar KO is a beta. So they’ll be looking into gamers’ feedback on the brand new mode to see what needs to be tweaked, added, or removed.

It seems like a fun addition to the Madden 20 title, so now we’ll wait to see how the gaming community responds to it. There are plenty of ways to enjoy the game including Ultimate Team, Franchise, and just playing against friends with your favorite teams. Some of those are time-intensive and it looks like Madden 20 Superstar KO gives gamers a quick way to have some fun on the game without spending too many hours there.
