Madden 20 Teases Josh Rosen Debut: How to Add Him To Dolphins Roster in Madden 19

The Madden 20 video game is still several months away for avid sports gamers. However, the EA Sports folks are continuing to offer up teaser content ahead of the game’s official release date. They recently debuted Seahawks rookie DK Metcalf for fans to get an early glimpse of him in uniform. Now another player who will put on a team’s uniform for the first team next season, Josh Rosen of the Miami Dolphins, gets a Madden 20 teaser video. We decided to move him to his new team in Madden 19.

Miami Dolphins’ Josh Rosen in Madden 20

As soon as the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft arrived, it seemed all but certain what Josh Rosen’s fate would be. The Arizona Cardinals drafted Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Kyler Murray as their new star play caller. With Murray in place, analysts immediately talked about a potential Josh Rosen trade. He was a priority pick for Arizona last season, but never quite met their expectations. Now he’ll get a fresh start in his sophomore season with the Miami Dolphins.

EA’s Madden Twitter showed off Rosen in the brand new jersey for the upcoming Madden 20 game. It’s a short teaser video but should have fans in Miami fired up for their new QB. Madden fans will be excited at the potential of using Rosen in the game.

Madden 20 player ratings are still weeks away, but Rosen has numbers to look at from the Madden 19 title. At launch, he had potential with a 78 OVR, but over the weeks of game action, the rookie slid. By the end of the season, Rosen was down to a 74 OVR with his Awareness down to a 67 from a launch attribute rating of 78.

Some of that was due to rookie struggles, and some was due to playing for a dismal team in need of better blocking up front. He still looked like he has future potential. While Rosen won’t be Patrick Mahomes necessarily, Dolphins fans are hoping to see improvement in his sophomore season.

How to move Josh Rosen to Dolphins roster in Madden 19

It’s possible to move Josh Rosen in Madden 19 but it takes a bit of work to do. It won’t be perfect like the NFL trade either. Instead, we’ll use free agent moves.

On the main screen go to the gear icon and choose it. Next, choose Manage Rosters. Go to Update Rosters to make sure you have all team rosters up to date. That won’t add Rosen to Miami but should make sure you have the latest team rosters.

We can’t make the official trade since there was a 2019 second round rookie pick involved. That pick that Arizona received from the Dolphins isn’t available in Madden 19 yet.

Release Josh Rosen from AZ Cardinals in Madden 19, after you've added another QB to AZ's roster.

Go to Sign Free Agents. Otherwise you’ll hit a snag because you can’t just release Rosen, as you’ll need a specific number of QBs on the Cardinals’ team roster. So consider adding any free agent QB just to make it work. We added QB Bryce Petty to AZ for this example. Use L2 to navigate teams and R2 to navigate to QB.

After you’ve signed a new QB in Arizona, you can release Rosen from the Cardinals. After that, head to Sign Free Agents and sign Josh Rosen to the Dolphins. You may opt to release Ryan Tannehill too or leave him for now.

Go to Order Depth Charts. Select Dolphins and then choose Josh Rosen. Go to whichever player is at No.1 and choose then to swap. Rosen should now be your first option on the Dolphins’ quarterback depth chart.

From there, you can use the Exhibition feature on Madden 19 to test Rosen out in the current version of the game. The overall rosters won’t be quite like what fans will see when the 2019 NFL season starts but this gives a way to have some fun and see what might be possible.

Otherwise, it’s a bit of a wait until Madden 20’s release date hits. The game is available for pre-order right now, with an official release date of August 3. Pre-orders of certain editions of the game arrive three days earlier.
