Madden 20 Title Update: New Superstar Abilities Added For Certain Offensive Linemen

On Tuesday, August 20, EA developers rolled out a brand new Madden 20 title update for the game. It’s relatively big in size, as it just tops 3 gigabytes for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The new update added new Superstar Abilities for a number of specific players in the game. Among them are stars like Zack Martin of the Dallas Cowboys and Brandon Brooks of the Philadelphia Eagles. We’ve got the full list of players here along with what Superstar abilities they have.

Madden 20 title update: Which players received new Superstar abilities?

Specific offensive linemen are now Superstar players with run block and pass block abilities. They won’t be available in Madden 20 Ultimate Team until Wednesday (Aug. 21). There is also the ability to earn several abilities (as shown below) starting on Wednesday in Ultimate Team.

Below we’ve provided a list of which players will get the new Superstar abilities in this new Madden 20 title update.

Edge Protector reduces edge pass protection versus elite edge rushers. The following players now have this Superstar ability:

  • LT1 David Bakhtiari (Packers)
  • RT Mitchell Schwartz (Chiefs)
  • LT Tyron Smith (Cowboys)
  • LT Trent Williams (Redskins)

Post Up Ability improves blocker’s ability to hold double team blocks both run and pass. The following players are equipped with the ability.

  • RG Brandon Brooks (Eagles)
  • LT Joe Staley (49ers)
  • LT Andrew Whitworth (Rams)
  • RG Zack Martin (Cowboys)
  • RG Kevin Zeitler (Giants)

Run Block Elite holds blocks longer when run blocking. Not equipped for any player but will become available to earn in Madden Ultimate Team on Wednesday (Aug. 21). It may already be available in Franchise mode.

Pass Block Elite holds blocks longer when pass blocking.

  • LG David DeCastro (Steelers)
  • RG Brandon Brooks (Eagles)

Zone Blocker holds blocks longer on zone block run plays.

  • LT Joe Staley (49ers)
  • C Alex Mack (Falcons)
  • LT Trent Williams (Redskins)
  • RG Zack Martin (Cowboys)

Power Blocker gives stronger blocking on power run plays. Only one player received this in the update.

  • C Jason Kelce (Eagles)

More new Superstar abilities

Threat Detector helps to indicate extra blitzes on third and fourth down situations. This ability isn’t equipped to anyone specifically but will be available to earn in MUT and Franchise mode soon.

All Day increases weight timer between pass rush move attempts by the defender when engaging on passing plays.

  • David Bakhtiari (Packers)
  • Tyron Smith (Cowboys)

Nasty Streak allows the player to frequently impact block smaller defenders when blocking in space.

  • LG Quenton Nelson (Colts)
  • RT Lane Johnson (Eagles)
  • C Jason Kelce (Eagles)

Puller Elite makes the player much more effective on engagements when pulling on run plays.

  • RG Quenton Nelson (Colts)
  • LG David DeCastro (Steelers)

Secure Protector already in MUT Franchise. This creates a significant reduction to the pass rusher’s chance to use a quick shed move or edge rush on passing plays.

  • Tyron Armstead (Saints)
  • Rodney Hudson (Raiders)
  • Andrew Whitworth (Rams)

As seen above several players received more than one of the new Superstar abilities in the Madden 20 title update. That’s just a fraction of what the update brought to the game too. There are also player likeness updates, new gameplay tweaks or adjustments, and more. See the full Gridiron Notes here.

To get the new update, make sure to have your console connected to the internet via ethernet or WiFi. It should automatically download for your specific console from there. Keep in mind it could take several minutes to complete depending on your internet connection speed.
