Madden 21 Ratings Update: Aaron Rodgers, Josh Jacobs Among Week 1 Rising Stars

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs were amongst stars on the rise in EA’s Week 1 Madden 21 ratings update. Both players had strong performances in the opening week of NFL action to become deserving of the boosts. However, several other players, including the New York Giants’ Saquon Barkley, are in an early slump to start the season.

Madden 21 ratings update: Week 1 boosts Rodgers, Jacobs, and Murray

Football fans are ecstatic to have the sport they love back on the field and with Week 1 games, it provided the first body of work for the EA Madden 21 ratings adjustors. One performance they witnessed was Aaron Rodgers going 32-for-44 with 364 yards and four touchdowns thrown in a 43-34 win over the Vikings.

It led to a one-point ratings boost for the former NFL MVP and Super Bowl winner. Rodgers is now a 90 overall in the game. Ahead of him, QB Russell Wilson of the Seahawks also got the one-point boost. That puts Wilson just a point away from 99 Club membership.

The Las Vegas Raiders debuted in Week 1 with a 34-30 win over the Carolina Panthers. The Raiders seem to have a stud in their sophomore running back Josh Jacobs too. He had 46 receiving yards, 93 rushing yards, and three touchdowns in a strong outing. That translated to a nice two-point boost to get to 90 OVR in the Madden 21 ratings.

Another back who did well in Week 1 was the Seahawks’ Chris Carson who tallied 45 receiving yards and two touchdowns in his team’s win. Carson becomes an 87 OVR in Madden 21.

Meanwhile, the Arizona Cardinals surprised many fans with their opening week upset of the San Francisco 49ers. Last year’s No. 1 draft pick Kyler Murray showed his versatility. Murray had 13 rushing yards for 91 carries and a touchdown along with 230 yards passing and a touchdown by air in the 24-20 win. He’s now a 78 overall with two-point boosts to Acceleration and Awareness.

Barkley, Mayfield disappoint in opening week games

While a handful of players excelled in Week 1, there were also those who didn’t seem at their best. That included the Cleveland Browns’ Baker Mayfield. The former No. 1 pick had a lot of trouble in his team’s matchup with Madden cover star Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens.

Mayfield 21-for-39 with 189 yards passing and one TD. He was also sacked twice for a loss of 21 yards and picked off in the 38-6 rout by the Ravens. That dropped Mayfield to a 77 OVR for the Madden 21 ratings.

Saquon Barkley struggled in the New York Giants’ Monday Night Football matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 2018 Offensive Rookie of the Year was held to six yards rushing on his 15 carries. He did manage to get 60 yards receiving but couldn’t add any touchdowns to NY’s score. Barkley drops to a 90 overall due to the subpar outing.

The good news is there’s still time for Baker and Barkley to turn things around with plenty more games set for the NFL schedule. Gamers should see their ratings, along with other players, adjusted in the Madden 21 game based on Week 1 performances.
