Madden 99 Club Adds Seahawks QB Russell Wilson as Newest Member

As of Wednesday, the Madden 99 Club has gained a brand new member. The Seattle Seahawks’ Russell Wilson has moved up the ratings board due to an impressive season so far. With his team looking like one of the top contenders in the NFL through five games, it’s no surprise Russ is now a 99 OVR. Here are more details about his accomplishment as the season continues.

Russell Wilson added to Madden Club

The Madden 21 player ratings feature a handful of star players worthy of the best possible overall rating in the game. Known as the “Madden 99 Club” in the football sim game, only about four or more players are part of the exclusive membership before the season. As the season goes forth, players can either fall out of the 99 Club, or join it, based on how well they’re doing in the real-world NFL.

As far as Russell Wilson goes, he started out the season in the mid-to-high 90s and continued to get a boost each week he played. After Week 5’s close win by his Seahawks over the Minnesota Vikings, Wilson finally joined the club. He was amongst our players on 99 Club watch ahead of the season.

So far this season, Russ has led the Seahawks to a perfect 5-0 start. He’s thrown for 1,502 yards and 19 touchdowns with just three interceptions. Many people believe this could finally become the year Wilson wins the Most Valuable Player award too, so stay tuned.

Wilson’s teammate DK Metcalf paid his QB a special visit at his home to present him with the surprise that he’s now in the club. Here’s a look at the video club of that special moment, with Russ seeming quite happy about the honor.

For now, he’ll need to continue his impressive play to remain among the 99 Club members. The Seahawks will face the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, October 25 in a road game.

Who else is currently in or near the club?

Heading into this past week’s NFL games, Wilson was one of four players rated at 98 overall. Others included Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, 49ers tight end George Kittle, and Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner. However, Russ was the only one from the group to move into the 99 Club.

He joins other members who started the season in the Madden 99 Club. They are led by Chiefs quarterback and Madden 20 cover star Patrick Mahomes. Also in the club is New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas, Panthers’ halfback Christian McCaffrey, Rams RE Aaron Donald, and Patriots CB Stephon Gilmore.

It should be interesting to see if any other players are able to climb the ratings ladder to join Russell Wilson and company in the exclusive Madden 99 Club!
