Madden NFL 19 Legends: Barry Sanders, Howie Long Join Ultimate Team Along With LTD Player Card
A trio of Madden NFL 19 Legends arrived into Ultimate Team this weekend. Gamers will now be trying to acquire all-time greats including the Detroit Lions’ Barry Sanders and Oakland Raiders’ Howie Long. In addition to those two Power Up cards, there’s also a new limited-time release card for a Hall of Fame defensive star. Here’s a look at all three of the new cards in Ultimate Team.
Barry Sanders, Howie Long headline Madden NFL 19 Legends drop
Each weekend during Madden Ultimate Team season, gamers are able to acquire brand new “Ultimate Legends.” These consist of all-time greats from the NFL throughout its history from offense and defense. Previous Legends added to the game have included 49ers receiver Jerry Rice, Giants’ linebacker Lawrence Taylor, and Broncos quarterback John Elway.
On Saturday, all-time great NFL running back Barry Sanders joins Ultimate Legends. He checks in at third all-time on the rushing leaders’ list with 15,269 yards racked up in his Hall of Fame career. He’s also 10th in all-time touchdowns with 99.
To say he’s worthy of a Legends card is an understatement and now he has that new 99 card (shown below.) It includes 99s in Key Attribute categories such as Acceleration, Agility, and Elusiveness, plus that 98 Speed. Throw in the Power Up possibilities and this card’s a winner!
Since there is also a defensive star each weekend, the first one revealed is Howie Long. He now stars amongst the NFL on FOX in-team broadcast team but made his name on the gridiron as a vicious defender for the Raiders. Long had eight Pro Bowl appearances during his career which was spent entirely with the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders.
His card may not include 99s but it’s also a Power Up like Sanders’ card. Long’s Key Attributes include that 98 for Power Moves and Block Shedding, as well as 97 Play Recognition and 96 Strength. Gamers will find Long adds quite a bit to the defensive side of their roster when facing tough opponents.
Madden Legends LTD card for Ray Lewis
Each weekend also brings a “Limited Time Drop” card for the Ultimate Legends. This Saturday brings Hall of Fame defensive star Ray Lewis from the Baltimore Ravens. Lewis was on the cover of Madden 05′ and now has a 99 Ultimate Legends card available which also has the Power Up potential.
It’s a stellar card with 99s for Play Recognition, Tackle, and Hit Power. There’s also the 98 Block Shedding and 95 Strength. A 94 Acceleration with 90 Speed on a defensive juggernaut isn’t all that bad either.
As with previous drops, this one may not be all that well-received with gamers, though. Some are already pointing out in Twitter comments that there are better cards out there including Devin White, Devin Bush, or Demario Davis.
That may be true, but there could be rosters out there that will benefit from adding any or all of the above cards. The new Madden NFL 19 Legends are normally available in Packs, or through the Auction House in Ultimate Team.
Gamers can also head into the Ultimate Team Challenges and take on Barry Sanders with the Lions. Winning that results in a number of rewards including the Sanders’ Legends card. After that, take on Howie Long and the Raiders for a shot at the all-time great defender!
