Marvel’s Spider-Man Review Roundup

The day has finally come! Marvel’s Spider-Man swung onto PS4s yesterday and the reviews are glowing. Currently, the game has a Metacritic score of 87. Here are just some of the reviews:

IGN

“At its core, Insomniac Games’ new adventure strives to make you feel like Spider-Man. And, thankfully, Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 succeeds at nearly every swing across Manhattan’s rooftops…The Wall Crawler’s open world doesn’t consistently deliver the thrilling moments of its main campaign, but the foundation laid here is undoubtedly a spectacular one.” (Full review).

GameSpot

Reviewer Edmond Tran says “Minor shortcomings don’t detract from Insomniac’s achievement in creating a game that feels like an authentic interpretation of a beloved character. The feeling of embodying Spidey and using his abilities is astonishing, and the time spent on exploring its major characters help make its story feel heartfelt, despite superhero bombast.” (Full review).

GameInformer

“Excitement is delivered consistently from the outside of play right up to the last story frame, which is a real shocker that contains a reveal that will make the wait for the sequel almost unbearable.” (Full review).

DualShockers

“Whether you’re just swinging around the city searching for the many landmarks and collectibles, or fighting crime by flexing Spidey’s amazing super-powers and gadgets, Marvel’s Spider-Man is really a pleasure to play at all times. I can say with absolute confidence that this is by far the best superhero game I ever played.” (Full review).

EGM

“Marvel’s Spider-Man mixes the prestige ambitions of a Sony exclusive with the hyperkinetic fun of a great superhero game. It’s not a pairing you’d expect to work, but it mostly does here, though some aspects of the open-world design, like repetitive side content, let down the overall package.” (Full review).

These are just some of the many reviews out there for the game. Additionally, the first piece of DLC is set to come out on October 23rd. In the meantime, I’ll be web-swinging through New York. For news regarding Marvel’s Spider-Man and more, keep it locked to VGR.
