Marvel’s Thanos is Crashing the Party in Fortnite Tomorrow

We already knew Fortnite Season 4 would have some sort of superhero-themed content, but this really drives the concept home. Marvel is teaming up with Epic Games for a collaboration of “infinite” proportions. Avengers: Infinity War’s nefarious villain Thanos is coming to Fortnite for a limited time, starting Tuesday, May 8. Yes, that’s tomorrow — are you good and prepared to see him in-game?

The “Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup” event will come to Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode as 100 players take to the game and duke it out until one player emerges victorious. This time, however, there’s a twist. The Infinity Gauntlet, locked and loaded with all six Infinity Stones, ready to unleash upon some unsuspecting victim. If you’ve seen Avengers: Infinity War, you know why that’s very bad news for anyone on the business end of that thing.

Whoever finds the Infinity Gauntlet will instantly transform into Thanos, and can get to some real wrecking — it’s going to be ugly. There aren’t any specific details on what exactly Thanos can do, but you can bet it’s going to be something super powerful that no one’s going to mess with.

The collaboration came about after Avengers: Infinity War co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo worked together with Donald Mustard, worldwide creative director of Epic Games. EW.com had the full story, where Mustard spoke to the publication about the crossover.

“It was really important that whatever we did, it had to be super authentic to both Fortnite and the Avengers: Infinity War, and something that fans of both would be excited about. About an hour later, we had the bones of this awesome idea for a limited time gameplay mode, and almost immediately our team got started.”

You can check out the new mode when it drops on all platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and iOS.
