Major League Baseball will be providing fans some entertainment via video games while the season is on hiatus. As of Friday, April 10, the MLB The Show 20 Players Players League was revealed. It features a total of 30 baseball stars competing in what appears to be a tournament. Here are more details on the field of competitors and when it all gets going.

MLB The Show 20 Players League details

The NBA has the 2K Players Tournament and now MLB has its own video game league. The new MLB The Show 20 Players League will officially begin on Friday (April 10) night, thanks to the Minnesota Twins’ Trevor May. According to a recent tweet from The show, he was “instrumental” in making this all happen. They retweeted May who gave details of where to see highlights from the games or watch then live.

Per an MLB report, the Players League will involve 15 players from the National League and 15 from the American League. These players will use their respective teams with the current rosters when they play. Games will be just three innings each.

Each player participates in 29 games for the season with a game against each of the other players. At the end of three weeks of competition, they will have the top eight players who head to the postseason.

There will be $5,000 donated for each player to a Boys & Girls Club affiliate in their team’s community. The championship game will be worth another $25,000 which will go towards the winning player’s Boys & Girls Club affiliate. These donations come via Major League Baseball, the MLB Players Association, and Sony Interactive Entertainment.

The announcement of the league comes hours after a new MLB The Show update went live to fix several gameplay issues. They included an outfielder glitch, Online Head-to-Head issues, and more.
