MLB The Show 21 Legends Reveal: Twins Great Kirby Puckett to Join Roster

The former Minnesota Twins star was a multiple All-Star and two-time World Series champion. Based on Puckett trending on Twitter, his inclusion in the game had many fans rather excited. WIth each year’s installment of San Diego Studio’s MLB The Show, fans of the game anticipate which legendary stars will be included. They typically are some of the who’s who of baseball stardom and superstardom, including legends of the past and more recent times. With Kirby Puckett, he’ll join the MLB The Show 21 Legends roster based on his Hall of Fame career.

Puckett was among those rare sports stars who spent the entirety of their career with the same franchise. The Minnesota Twins drafted him third overall in 1982. He entered the majors in 1984 as a member of the Twins and retired in 1995, still part of Minnesota’s roster. During his career which lasted over 10 years, he achieved 10 All-Star appearances, six Gold Gloves, six Silver Slugger awards, and two World Series rings.

For his career, Puckett batted .318, hit 207 home runs, and had 1,085 RBIs in 1,783 games. The Twins star also racked up 57 triples, 414 doubles, and 134 stolen bases for his Hall of Fame resume

In 2001, he was officially inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Puckett passed away five years later, with his legacy living on. He’ll now join MLB The Show 21 Legends roster, as shown in a reveal trailer on Thursday.

Puckett is one of a few MLB The Show 21 Legends that they’ve revealed. Previously, Roberto Clemente was teased towards the very end of The Show’s cinematic gameplay trailer.

What will Puckett’s attributes be like in the game?

With the excitement over Kirby Puckett joining MLB The Show 21 Legends, many gamers are already trying to speculate about how his top player card will look. Typically, the Diamond Dynasty mode allows gamers to earn and buy cards to upgrade their rosters. That will likely be the case for Puckett as part of the legends roster, with his card ultimately reaching 99 OVR.

While he won’t check in at a mere 115 lbs like the mock attribute screen shows before, the other stats could be on par with a 99 OVR Puckett card. Based on that speculative card, he could bring Diamond Hitting and Defense to Diamond Dynasty rosters.

With Puckett and Clemente now revealed for MLB The Show 21 Legends, gamers are putting out requests on Twitter for other legends they’d like to see. Some of the suggestions so far include Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Prince Fielder, Dontrelle Willis, and Nomar Garciaparra. With The Show’s release date set for April 20, there could be more reveals in the coming weeks.
